 I just KNEW you would love him numberplease!! It has just dawned on me, having come straight from the Bruce Springsteen thread, that I kind of imagine Jack Reacher to look a bit like him  :D I am glad you are enjoying the books though!
I have just finished Girl Missing by Tess Gerritsen. There is a note from the author at the beginning about how she used to write "romantic" books but this was her very first attempt at crime writing. Not her best but very good all the same. I picked up a new Linwood Barclay at the airport on Saturday, so instead of reading any of my summer holiday stash, I have started it. It's not as gripping from the off as his 2 previous books but I am enjoying it.

I`m afraid I can`t agree or disagree over whether Jack Reacher would look like Bruce Springsteen because, dare I say this? I haven`t a clue what Mr. Springsteen looks like!
As for Linwood Barclay, all I`ve read so far is No Time for Goodbye, I`ve tried and failed so far to find any more, so will start looking again.
The Tess Gerritsen omnibus was quite good, both books being unlikeanything else of hers that I`ve read. I absolutely LOVED The Bone Garden.

I've just finished "Lennox" by Craig Russell and recommend it highly. It's a good, fast-paced crime thriller set in Glasgow shortly after the Second World War with a Canadian private eye for the hero and a big cast of gangland hard men (and a couple of quite nasty women). Lots of wry humour. The author is new to me but I see he has some 'previous' so I think I'll hunt them down. If they're as good as "Lennox" it should be worth the effort!

Once again John Connolly has hit the jackpot with his latest in the Charlie Parker series.

"The Lovers" sees Parker delve into his childhood to find the answer as to why his father,a N Y P D beat cop, shot dead two teenagers and then commit suicide.

I think this is now the eighth in the series, and Connolly never fails to deliver.

Looks like I am the only one with a book in my hand.

Another early Harlan Cobden "The Innocent" from 2005.A fast paced thriller involving the usual murder/blackmail and twist at the end.

I usually read different books in my holidays and I was persuaded to read Jodi Picoult's 'My Sister's Keeper' which I read through quicker than I usually do. It was surprisingly good! I knew before reading it that there was a twist at the end but have to say, I didn't see it coming! Anyway, it gave me a real good greet! I'm now halfway through her 'Plain Truth' and learning a great deal about the Amish community.

I had never fancied reading any of the Jodi Picoult books but had to eat my words after one of our book group choices, "Keeping the faith", proved to be very good! I have another of Picoult's called "nineteen minutes" in the 'to read' pile....it sounds a bit of a copycat to the plot for "We need to talk about kevin" by Lionel Shriver.
I have just finished "Still Midnight" by Denise Mina which was possibly one of her best so far. The daily record has reviewed 3 Scottish authors/books today. Lennox by Craig Russell which WC1 has reviewed, the Denise Mina I have just finished, and another called Final Cut by Lin Anderson (another new name to me) which sounds good.
Iain has just finished "The Riverman" by Alex Gray (also set in Glasgow).....I know we have mentioned her before and not been impressed but he said this one was really quite good.
I have started "One day" by David Nicholls.....not my usual kind of thing but it's ok so far! It is about a couple who meet on the night of their graduation and follows them on the same day, every year, for the next 20 years.

"One day" by David Nicholls went from being "ok" to being really very good. A bit different from my usual read and I wondered at the beginning if I really cared enough about Emma and Dexter to follow them on the 15th of July, every year for 20 years but after a few chapters, I did. This book has been described as "a brilliant book about the heartbreaking gap between the way we were and the way we are" (must be my age that made me enjoy it  ) and "the best weird love story since "The time traveller's wife". Back to kidnap and cops now with Simon Kernick's "Target".

Another Karin Slaughter novel,Kisscut from 2002.A story of child abduction and abuse.I only wish Sara and ex hubby Jeffrey would get their love live sorted, then we could concentrate on the gory side of things. 8)

I have had to eat my words again after a friend insisted I read "Plain Truth" by Jodi Picoult - the book Govangirl mentioned about the Amish Community. I must admit I really enjoyed it and read it over just a few days, managed a wee greet too! I knew nothing about the Amish way of life before reading this. Karin Slaughter's "genesis" for me next and our next choice for bookclub is "Open Doors" by Iain Rankin.
