What kind of book is it Beachcomber?
I was in Durness once, in 1979, tried the local shop, but couldn`t buy fresh bread, milk or newspapers till 5pm, we forgot how far they have to come with them!

Just started The Hobbit, been about twenty years since I read it last. Possibly more.

Finished Whistle Blower by Tess Gerritsen, really enjoyed it, but it was one of her earlier books, unlike any others of hers that I`ve read. Am now reading Hold Tight, by Harlan Coben.

Just finished another by Tami Hoag called Dark Horse. Not one of her best,if this was the first of her novels that I had read I would not be reading any more, but as it is I do know that she normally does a lot better.Maybe it is that this is not one in her series of Sam Kovak books.

Hi there, ive just finished The Best Awful by Carrie Fisher, not bad, would especially recommend it for anyone out there who has or knows anyone with Bipolar Disorder. Just started reading The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. Love to hear from anyone about anything, i'm new in town and don't know a soul!

Oh you'll really enjoy it Nua, it's wonderful. Let us know what you thought when you finish.

We chose 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' by Jonathan Safran Hoer as this month's choice at our Book Group on Thursday night. I'm looking forward to it. Anyone else read it?

I saw on the BBC news that the author most chosen in British libraries for 2008 was James Patterson. A Harry Potter book was the most requested book but the top three authors were crime writers.

I`ve just finished Harlan Coben`s Hold Tight, thought it was great, am now reading another of his, Promise Me. It`s started off OK, but it`s one of the Myron Bolitar stories which are okaaaay, but not really his best books. Anyway, will see.

Aphrodite a thriller by Russell Andrews is the best book I have read for quite a while.Right from the first page you are straight into the action, which rarely eases off throughout .

Tami Hoag back to her best with "Kill the Messenger".The only fault I found in this thriller was the twist at the end, which to my thinking was just too far out the ball park to be believable.

I quite enjoted Promise Me, it was better than the other Myron Bolitar stories that I`ve read. Am now reading one of Peter James earlier books, Possession, but a bit too soon to give an opinion yet.

Just about finished The Reader by Bernhard Schlink (I actually bought it for my mother in law for mothers day  - best get shopping again tomorrow!!). It's been a very easy read that I have enjoyed. I see the film is at The Picture House next week, anybody seen it?

Just finished "The broken souls" by Jack Kerley.

On the cover it says "as good as James Patterson or your money back".Well it was not only as good as but infact a lot better than.

This is Kerley's 3rd novel with Mobile Alabama homicide detective Carson Ryder as the main character. Will be hunting down the authors other novels in double quick time.
