Nice touch from Council staff
COUNCIL CONTRIBUTES TO MACMILLAN CANCER RELIEF
Following a successful fundraising campaign, Argyll and Bute Council has provided Macmillan Cancer Relief's Nurses Charity with a cash boost of £1,323.68.
At a meeting of the Full Council, Provost William Petrie presented representatives from the charity with a cheque for £1,149.68 along with an envelope containing further funds.
The money were raised by Council staff and members in a variety of ways, including coffee mornings and raffles. Included in the total was £250 which the Council's Customer Service Centre team kindly donated after winning it at last year's IRRV awards.
Councillor Petrie said: "It gives me great pleasure to present this money to the Macmillan Nurses. There are over 3,000 Macmillan nurses across the UK, working both in hospitals and in the community.
"They are a valued and trusted source of expert information, advice and support and I am delighted that Argyll and Bute Council has managed to contribute to this worthwhile cause."
