Wouldn`t say he was my all time favourite Bill, but I have very fond memories of watching Chic Murray and Maidie years ago, and laughing myself silly. That man could have cheered up even the most miserable soul!
I`ve just started on my second Robert Crais book, The Watchman, it promises to be a good `un. See what you`ve started Bill? :lol:

Dare I say that he would have been a very welcome addition to the forum for that very reason.

IMHO you will not find bad 'un. Also don't you think Joe Pike would beat Jack Reacher?? :shock:

Don`t know about beating him, I`ve still got a very soft spot for Jack Reacher, but they`d make a good team.

I was reading this morning that Tom Cruise is in talks to take the lead role of Jack Reacher in the film of the ninth book in the Reacher series, One Shot. It did mention the discrepancy between the proposed casting and Reacher's 6' 5" frame as described in the books: "Reacher's size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way" said a spokesman.
Is that right???????????? Is Cruise going to cut it?

No way, Jose!! I couldn`t even watch it if Tom Cruise had the part, it`s unthinkable! I know he`s not an actor, but I picture Reacher as looking somewhat like Peter Schmeikel, a BIG lad!

I remember when Cruise was signed up for the part of Lestat in Interview with the Vampire and many people, including the writer of the novel, Ann Rice, argued vehemently that it was the wrong choice. It turned out that he was most compelling in the role and Rice changed her mind after she saw it. Maybe he'll do the same with the Reacher role Numberplease? :idea:

I just can`t imagine it GG, I`m a little in love with Jack Reacher, and find Tom Cruise completely unfanciable, so, as Jack Reacher, NAH!!!!

None of those, that`s for sure! Wonder if Peter Schmeikel`s ever fancied acting? I`m having trouble thinking of actors who are big enough to take on the role, rather than giving it to any of the wimps who try to pass as macho men these days.
