The Jogscotland String

For 2011 we have decided to give the healthy local running and jogging community a forum of their own!

Great turn out for the first Saturday session of the Wee Toon runners ....13 runners showed up and it was good to see mixed abilities too .

We started off with a nice flat run down towards the Sheep Fanks with everyone knowing to run at their own pace for 30 mins turn and head back . It seemed to work well and everyone finshed almost at the same time ....from group feedback everyon was happy with the new format , it takes pressure of others and leaves it up to the individual on how slow or fast they want to run for that 60 min session . :D

Our plans for next week would be to get the mini bus and head to MAchrihanish ....start at the carpark ,do a warm up mile and head up towards Killy pole loch again running for 30 mins before turning . Remembering the stretch to the top is a killer .....ask Jocelyn .

We also agreed to meet at 8.50am every Saturday so we can be away for 9am sharp.

NEW TIME 8.50AM ( tens mins less in bed Stu  )

First run of the New Year and it was brilliant. I have said it before and I will say it again, the cammaraderie between runners in this town is absolutely fantastic. Made some new acquaintances on the run this morning. I even gave Pans Lass a tenner, me not being a people person, and one who prefers to struggle on his own, but I really enjoyed the company today. If there's a spare seat on the bus next week, I've never seen Kylipol and would welcome the run.

The bug is back. 8.4 miles this morning and then golf in the afternoon---bed time looms, now. Lazy Sunday Afternoon as the Small Faces said.

The big question is "Where was Ninja????????"

I would love to make Saturday mornings to get me back into it again, but a couple commitments mean I can't make it.

So instead of Robert lazy morning, I'll head out tomorrow and try and get my build up miles in for the start of the Handicaps! As from talk the competition is going to be very fierce this time!!

Have to agree Rab. Posted last night then listened to the rain and said no way am I going. Woke up this morning initially said no then said right just go. Really glad I did and the format works really well. Haven't been out in months but the company was enought to keep me going and I felt pretty good at the end. Major thanks to Stuart and Gail for keeping me going and the banter was cracking. Now going to get out during the week and can't wait until next Saturday.

I have done this loop a few times, but I'm not going to say too much about it, apart from the views from the top are awesome.
Thats if you can make it there before your 30min's run out. Prepare yourself for a lung buster.

SCDI hope you can make it, and I pray i'm there just to see your face, it will look like this -> and mine will look like this->

ninja is right you's have chosen a right tough run for next week, so much for easing myself back into it, i doubt very much if i will see the view from the top, think i'll be like an old horse stuck half way up the hill refusing to move  it'll show me exactly how far back i have slipped as i can remember flying round there with the gang before the kintyre way last year :(

Would loved to have ran with the Saturday group yesterday but Saturday mornings are not the best time for me as need to be kid's taxi then.

Ran just over 4 miles yesterday afternoon which felt the best yet, so did another 6 this morning which also wasn't too bad.

Have entered a 10k in March so am going to follow a 10k training schedule starting this week, so if anyone fancies joining me at the pool on a Tuesday night at 6pm, I am down for a 45 minute fartlek this week.

Sounds good katfer. Moi, jocelyn, pans lass, fja and a few others from Sat were talking about meeting around that time so we could maybe join forces, see you then.

On second thoughts NM, I was out at Machrihanish and drove up this way. You'll be lucky if I get very far up this!! :o After High Lossit Farm where do you go? Do you go right (to Ballygrogan) or do you turn left on to dirt track of some sort. Right looks much easier! :D

Right is the easy option, but we should go left and over the gate, then right and straight uphill till we get to the mast, then follow road round to killipool loch. I will be very surprised if anyone actually gets to the turning point at the loch, very surprised indeed.

Rab Glad you enjoyed it ... You will be pleased to hear that your £10 secures a seat on the bus .... :D

Aye ..its a tough one fiona28 however when everyone returns back in a few weeks after lots of hard training in between one will see how much they have improved ...good training for the Kintyre Way . :D

But as Ninja pointed definitely a lung buster and with only 30 mins we may not reach Killypole Loch so we may have to miss out the BIG inclines to the top before turning left up to Killypole. :D
Jocylyn will be our tour guide next week .
