I apologise for the loss of service over the last 24 hours. The website was hacked by an Iranian hacking team named CL3AN3RS (CLEANERS). This group spend their time hacking and wiping websites just because they can

I've restored everything from backup and all seems to be working again. The backup was dated August 2nd 03:41 so unfortunately all posts made after that time will be gone. Sorry about that, but you will need to repost any messages you wrote after that date and time.

I've also blocked IP addresses that originate in Iran so hopefully that will stop this happening again - no guarantees though

If any users or groups spot any problems please let me know.

They took down quite a lot of sites yesterday, mostly charity, organisations and hospital type sites....

Wasn't the database Hamish, they hacked cpanel. I've beefed up security a bit so .... fingers crossed!

You're right about backups though - no database = no forum

I popped by for a quick nosey that evening and there were two guests (me and a.n.other) along with GoogleBot. My understanding is that G-B is there for seconds but that evening it was perusing for 5 or 10 minutes ..... any connection?

Don't think so muppetanimal - the forum software only refreshes the who's online every few minutes so it can look like the bots are there for a while whereas they've probably been and gone long before.
