Kintyre Schools Pipe Band WINNER
Kintyre Schools Pipe Band was formed in October 2000, in response to a demand from a small group of young musicians to provide a structure for their collective piping and drumming interests.
Kintyre Schools currently has a Juvenile Grade Pipe Band with 26 playing members, and a Novice Juvenile Pipe Band with 25 playing members.
Apart from the 2 Pipe Majors, Ian McKerral and John Brown all the band members are between 11 and 17 years of age.
On 13th August 2005, the Novice band achieved the ultimate accolade by winning the World Championship on Glasgow Green, an event attended by some 40,000 spectators and bandsmen.Trad Music Awards
