The Jogscotland String

For 2011 we have decided to give the healthy local running and jogging community a forum of their own!

saturday mornings

Postby fiona28 » Thu Jan 14, 2010 12:38 am

hey gang

first official saturday of the year is looming. We are going to be using a new format on a saturday now. We will be using our running name for the group so it will be "Wee Toon Runners" on a saturday morning. What we intend to do is have a run that all abilites can join - we will run out for half an hour then turn and try to do the inward journey in the same time or faster as we did the outward one.

this allows all to go at their own pace without having to stop to regroup and already more people have said they will come along as they wont feel pressure to "keep up"

cost is £10 per person for the 10 week block, please pay promptly to save mucking about. I had hoped to have a minibus quite a few of the weeks, as at this time of year we are stuck to the pavements at night and i feel when we are out in the morning it is a good chance to get on the country trails. having a minibus means we all stick to the time frame and dont have anyone hanging about if in specific cars.

we can try it and see what happens anyway. looking forward to seeing you all again, but afraid i am working this saturday so wont make the first run of the year. :(

all are welcome :D

Thats a good format Foina :D I like it , and like a handicap race everyone should finish pretty close together, thus allowing all range of abilities to join in, it also means I have a chance of beating Stu
I cant make this week either I'm going to a Hollywood party whoo whoo, but will be back for next week, NJ and big D will be there though. Have a good un.

Wasn't sure when you were going to start this Fiona but this week good as we All back into routine . I will be there and register who ever wishes to join the block and like Fiona expressed please can you pay your £10 the first week or two to save us any hassle . Thanks .

Do you have the Saturday files Fiona or are they at the Aqualibrium . Also where did we decide to meet ...outside Aqualibrium or Communty Centre on Saturdays .

Good Luck this week too Fiona !!

Meet outside pans lass, could you ask carmen for a blank register sheet and organise this weeks route :D I'll see if i can get a minibus for week 2 so have a chat amongst who is there and see where they fancy going. Ideally the weeks we take the minibus would be good to meet at 8:45 so will post as soon as i know if we have a bus or not. :D

\went tonight and had run with Thursday group so got register ,will plan this Saturdays route and also see who and where we can go next week with mini bus. Think we may have a few join us this Saturday after speaking to a few tonight . The new format has opened doors for others who would not normally join us and they feel less pressure to keep up. :)

Planning to come to Saturday morning run since it should cover all abilities, will give it a try and see how i go. Had nice run out tonight with Suzy and Noreen leading the fast group enjoyed myself and coming along gave me the motivation that i am needing as i wouldn't have gone out and done this myself. So thanks again girls was a nice run, lovely to come along and not plan the route.

Oh I came and invaded the intermediates with Janet and Caroline leading just me and Marjory.

Thought I better get back in the swing of it with a 3.25 mile start! Nice easy pace for a start back after a very very long recovery. I can say now I loved every minute of it!

the wee toon runners saturday morning meets outside aqualibrium, if you already can run come and join us. The pace will be upto yourself, we will run out for 30 mins then turn and run back for 30. So pace and distance are upto the individual :D

all welcome, £10 fee for block to be paid in first 3 weeks. :D

Really looking forward to getting back to Saturday running - I think the new format is a brilliant approach. Early night, coffee and a jaffa cake or 2 :) for breakfast beckon.
