Scottish Amateur Football League - Division One
Tarbert AFC 2 - 3 Aitkenhead Thistle
Saturday 31st March 2012, Cil Andreis, Tarbert
Tarbert's ambitions to return to the Premier Division of the Scottish Amateur Football League took a massive blow yesterday as they lost at home by the odd goal in five in a highly entertaining fixture in perfect playing conditions at Cil Andreis in Tarbert.
Despite the loss the home side can take a lot from their spirited come back that took them from 2-0 down to level and arguably the stronger side to finish the game. Trailing 2-0 to an impressive Aitkenhead Thistle B side the Dookers clawed their way back into the match with a goal from the ever impressive Iain Johnstone. The local side dug in deep and pressed for the equaliser and were rewarded with the goal they needed by a stunning freekick from striker James Prentice. From all of thirty yards the big man unleashed an unstoppable strike to pull his side back into it with ten minutes remaining. However, it was the visitors who were to the get the decisive goal with only a few minutes left with a well taken goal leaving John Martin, who had a fine afternoon between the sticks, helpless.
