Site of St John's Lodge

Postby Ship called Dignity » Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:24 pm

This is now the site of the former St John's Lodge (is this the right name??) and St John's Snooker Club. I can remember the latter, only just - can mind my big cousin Lofty - Robert Mason - working there! 8)

Well, anyway, McLeod's are now buidling two houses on this site...

Davie, the lodge that was in the same building as 'The Jack' (it had the upper floor) was the Orange Lodge (LOL No. 62?). Lodge St John (No. 141?) is the masonic lodge.

The name the Jack was short for the Orange Lodges social club whose full title was the Union Jack Club

Remember being at a birthday party hosted in the wee hall upstairs in the early 70's.
