Here's one for Numberplease to start your thread off. Am I correct in thinking this went to Number 1 the night Manfred Mann played at the Vic - 13th August 1964?
PS - Even us "young uns" enjoy the old music.

Thank you for that, I was a great Manfred Mann fan, but not as much after Paul Jones was replaced by Mike D`Abo. My first memory of them is the signature music for Ready, Steady, Go, 5,4,3,2,1. I also loved The Mighty Quinn. P.S. I didn`t mean to upset you on the other thread

Ooh, lovely, you`re a little love really, aren`t you? I was also an avid fan of Elvis and Cliff, although I know that won`t go down well with everybody, didn`t care much for The Beatles, heard them on TV singing Love Me Do in 1961, nd turned to my Grandma and said "They`re not very good are they? They won`t get anywhere", shows how much I know!

Well it's been mentioned often enough in the past on different threads Davie.
You have the date wrong though Davie,I'm pretty certain it was 14th July.Obviously I was there,a few months short of my 16th birthday, and at 10/- a ticket it was expensive.
I have heard that someone in the town has the concert recorded on an old cine camera. It would be great if it were true,as I for one would gladly pay for the cost of transferring to disc.
I still have every single,EP and LP that they recorded, including an American release with 2 tracks that were not released in the UK.
The clip below is from the live NME awards which was a few weeks before they were in the Vic.,so gives a very good insight into what they were like on the night.

According to Wikipedia Do Wah Diddy Diddy by Manfred Mann was released on the 10th July 1964 and went to number one on August 13th where it stayed for two weeks.
I`m not sure, is Ship Called Dignity a real youngster then? And would that make me the first female internet stalker?

Don't you worry numberplease, he's not too young for you. If you can imagine ScD being the Colin Farrell of the forum, and you being a grand dame, this is a scenario you might like to consider:

I`ve never thought of myself as a grande dame, but looking in the mirror I see that "grande" just about covers it!
