How sad to begin the year with the news of his passing. He had many memorable parts but to me his role as Danny in the fim Brassed Off (a film all MPs should be made to watch) was the best. RIP, a great British actor.

One of his greatest parts was in "The Name Of The Father" about the wrongful convictions of the Guildford Four

A sad loss of a great actor. Although I loved Brassed Off, the performance I always think of him in was as Thora Hird`s son in the TV drama Lost for Words, about, I think, 10 years ago?

My favourite Postlethwaite role was as Sergeant Obediah Hakeswill in Sharpe. Still one of the scariest TV characters I can think of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGjuP91Xzlo

"Truth is I thought it mattered, I thought that music mattered. But does it bollocks! Not compared to how people matter."

Hard to pick just one,as any part he played he made his own.

Apart from his work as an actor I believe he was a noble man.I believe if he was your friend, you would have a friend for life.
Even when Holywood beckoned he did not succumb to it's false facade. When work was done, film finished,he would return to his quiet English village where he could be seen going about his normal daily routine, never thinking he was any better than his neighbour.

I think one of his last parts was in the remake of The Omen in 2006.

He was in Ben Affleck's latest "The Town",released last September.

There is also a film still to be released, "Killing Bono",which he has a part.

Not got round to seeing them yet Bill, but I have to agree one of the best he did was Guiseppe Conlon with Daniel Day-Lewis in the movie In The Name Of The Father.

Yes great performances from both actors.

I only remembered after I had posted that Postlethwaite was also in a movie I watched a few weeks ago."Inception" starring Brad Pitt.
