It looks like we are in for an unprecedent Managerial merry-go-round this summer.

Rangers - Walter Smith - considering his position. Surely though he will want a crack at the Champions League
Celtic - Gordon Strachan - gone
Hearts - Csabo Laszlo - budget cut, star players leaving. Surely will get out while his stock is high
Aberdeen - Jimmy Calderwood - gone
Dundee United - Craig Levein - being linked by both Celtic and Rangers fans I have spoken to recently with their jobs
Hibs - Mixu Paatelainen - GO! please
Motherwell - Mark McGhee - strongly linked with Aberdeen job
Kilmarnock - Jim Jeffries - may well leave if another opportunity anywhere presents itself.
Hamilton - Billy Reid - possibly the only SPL Manager still in the same job come August
Falkirk - John Hughes - almost certain to walk out if he is not pushed
St Mirren - Gus McPherson - not popular with many Saints fans after narrow relegation escape.
Inverness C.T. - Terry Butcher - will be safe in his job but not in the SPL

Be interesting to see who Celtic think they can get. Coyle and Moyes will be two they're linked with anyway.

I would bet odds on that Mark Mcgee will go to parkhead.

Be interesting to see how many names are mentioned in the Tabloids until the new appointment.

Has Stuart Baxter been mentioned yet He has now.

I was hoping they would get Paul Le Guen

It'll probably be Colin Calderwood and we can save money by not changing the pay cheques too much.

There's not many on that list that I'd like to see in charge of the Dons. Only McGhee, Levein, Rioch and Colin Calderwood.
I'd prefer to still have Jimmy in charge as he's done extremely well in my book on a budget of just over 37 pence. I don't know what some of the fans expect on such a tight budget. Even although the great unwashed from Glasgow have dramatically slashed their spending power they still spend more on one player than we do on the entire team and some of these deluded fans think we should be challenging for the league and cups on a regular basis. Since Jimmy took charge we've qualified for Europe twice and finished comfortably in the top six every season instead of our previous flirtations with the wrong end of the league and that was with managers who had a lot more to spend than Jimmy did.

Anyway, rant over, but for my money I'd prefer Mark McGhee but he'll probably go to Celtic.

I can't disagree with much of that giantredwood, in fact I've posted much of that in support of him over the last few year.

However, it think after five years this is for the best. It seems too many of the fans are not behind him anymore for whatever reason and that is filtering through to attendances. Its time for a change. I am also in doubt that will make us any better but this year has not seen progress on 2007/08 so you could argue JC has no more to offer.

His downfall is of course the defeats in the cups to lower league opposition. Last season I saw us concede 8 goals in two semi finals to QOS & Dundee Utd and this year we've gone out to Dunfermline at home and 4-2 to Killie in the CIS. Throw in another CIS defeat to Queen's Park and its easy to see why some folk wanted him out.

Whether any of those were his fault or not, managers live and die by the results in big games and for 'the other 10' the cups are vitally important.

I've lost count of the times I've asked myself what on earth he was thinking with tactics, formations, team selections but maybe he knew best ?

On the plus side, there is the obvious 100% top six record and last season's UEFA Cup campaign. The second 45 mins against FC Copenhagen and 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich will be hard to forget as will watching them in the Allianz Arena and Estadio Vincente Calderon cos those occassions don't come round much for us now.

When you look back he has been the most successful man in charge for 15 years then again maybe that is not much of an achievement ?

As for the new manager, well, there is nothing to suggest anyone on that list will do any better although I've always liked John Collins. Think he has other ideas though.

One name not on he list I would be happy with is Willie Miller.

On closer inspection of those lists, I see Malky Mackay's name on both of them. Surely those masks the Norwich fans used to have would do a better job than he would? WTF is that all about?
