Saint Wattie of ibrox

Postby Trapper » Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:40 am

Is anyone else sick to the back teeth of the scottish media constantly brown nosing Saint walter? The last two days back pages have been cringeworthy. His team loses 2-1 to a 3rd rate (at best) Israeli ( thats right Israel that colossus of world football)team and it's all the referees fault. Oh and the dirty underhand tactics that the israelis used trying to goad poor barry into punching somebody in the face. And forcing poor chris burke to dive about like Jurgen Klinsmann in his heyday. But still, they insist, it was a good result. Away from home in europe and all that, not easy, away goal will see them through, etc. etc. If it were paul Le Guen or even big eck they would have been slaughtered, but not "oor" wattie. I sometimes wonder how he has any time to manage a football team what with all the rounds o golf he must be playing with the nation's sports editors. That man will never be shy of work as long as the media is on his side.

Why do you read the sports pages then? If an article is about Walter Smith, what relevence does that have with your team (other than when they are playing Rangers) ? Why would you care? Does the number of column inches written about Walter Smith, good or bad, have any effect on the outcome of a football match? Did it never occur to you that Walter is perhaps just a nice guy that plays the game with the press? Managers of other teams over the years (including Aberdeen, and perhaps Rangers) have banned players from speaking to reporters, and have generally gotten on the wrong side of the press. If Walter is playing the game in the way I think he is, judging by your reaction, it is working very well

I guess you've just been Tango'd

Doh!
OOH did they knock down McCaigs folly.....

Don't read papers, or just ignore or laugh at what's printed in them. They're generally full of cack and even the so-called "better" papers have all got their own agenda. Just scout about the internet to find things out, far more interesting points of view to be found.

I just think it's wrong that a guy can get appointed as manager of two teams (scotland and rangers) purely down to the fact the media start a campaign to have him appointed, and bugger all to do with his managerial ability!
I'm going try it myself actually. SWELTERED FOR RANGERS!!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence there young Trapper, but isn't one supposed to start off managing a diddy team first?
I'm afraid my current aclimatisation would prevent me from taking such a post... I wouldn't be able to stand the icy Northsea wind coming in from the beach end

I won't deny that todders is quite possibly the coldest stadium in the world. I once saw a seagull nosedive onto the pitch and i'm convinced it was cos his wings had frozen up! :D

Wasn't that what trapper was saying?
How many mothers to cry?
How many sons have to die?
How many missions left to fly over palestine?
