The step-father of Baby Peter has been badly scalded by another in-mate.My first thought was,"Well done".Any views?

Many people would say he had it coming, however it would be interesting to know what the other inmate is inside for before we start congratulating him. And would it be ok for another inmate to scald him if he didn't happen to agree with the crime he's committed? There's going to be a lot of hot tea flying around!!

Yes, he should sue the prison authorities for failing to provide a duty of care. One can't condone lynch mob mentalities within HMP service, however hideous the original crime may appear to be.
Bertie raises a good and valid point, chiefly the crime committed by the other inmate. This paragon of virtue decided to take the law into his own hands, he should be severely punished for his actions.

I agree the assailant should be punished. Not too sure the authorities should be sued. Why not sue the man who threw the water, take it out his giro at 10 pounds a month when he gets out, rather than stiff the poor old taxpayer yet again.

Well deserved. I don`t want anyone to kill him though, just let him live in fear for the rest of his life, always looking behind him.
