Hey folks time to get teams organised and start training. Looking like "The Wee Toon Runners" could be fielding 2 teams. :D

Have been looking at off road running shoes and both www.sweatshop.co.uk and www.wiggle.co.uk have reasonably priced shoes if anyone is thinking of purchasing for training and taking part in the relay.

Is there 2 JS teams Fiona? Stuart is scheduled to be on call that weekend so don't think we'll be able to make it. And after those 7 miles of hills the other week I don't think I would manage 4 more!! Want to do the training for it though and see what happens. I'll let you know soon though. If I will be up the road that weekend I might do the Edinburgh 10k instead. Couldn't make JS tonight as had SKSC meeting and after a week away skiing I've not managed any running... will be there Thursday to get my mileage up again!

Yeah Elaine, hoping to enter 2 teams, dont worry bout the miles, one of the stretches is only 6 miles so you would manage that. :D

I got me n moi shoes from Pete Bland on the internet, fair prices as well. Just pump in Pete Bland Sports into google.

Are you sure, by looking on their website I thought the shortest distance was 10 miles and all looked pretty hard! I'll speak to Stuart about changing his shifts and I'll speak to you about it on Sat morning x

tHE kwr is now 7 weeks away so folks I'd like to know for certain who is committed to training and who isn't - its not a problem - we are all busy but i dont want people to train hard and then not be able to do the run as others drop out a couple of weeks before.

Ideally I'd like us all to train together as a team - i know all the people cant make all the weeks but from speaking to "the regulars" ive one team of definites: Jocelyn, Francis, Moira, Jennifer, Myself, Matthew, Darren and Neil John. Waiting to see if Elaine and Stu are still on board. The ten named have trained really really hard over the last few weeks and progress is defo being made - we saw that yesterday. :D

Im thinking to go with one team (six) and those who are not in the team but trained weekly would run beside another runner as a support runner plus it's nice to have extra in case of injury nearer the time, but we wont think about that :D

I had originally hoped to field a girls team if it were one team then it would be mixed - the other option is that if everybody who has said they want to do it comes along and trains we will be able to field a boys (or mixed)team and a girls team, look above - we nearly have a girls team as it is!!!

Please be honest as everyone is training hard, up and down these muddy hills - once we know what we are doing then we will split up the "chunks" and folk can get out there and look at their own "bit" and get to know it. :D

People who have been training weekly will have the place before others as "team spirit" is what this is about, not times :D so if all can confirm then we can move on. :D

It looks like this is the correct place for me to ask for helpers for the Campbeltown end of the Kintyre Way relay 2009. I have been asked to get some folk together to marshal the finish. It only requires a few people at a time, perrhaps two. There could be finishers coming in from about 2.30 till 8pm. I reckon that four teams of two would be enough to look after it. Saturday 2 May. Any helpers available?

Sid ...as I have decided not to train for this I am more than happy to marshal or where ever i am needed. Would rather do the earlier shift than late one . Just PM me.

Sorry Fiona count us out for kintyre way - think Stuart really wants to do the 10k in lochgilphead, isn't that keen on more distances especially off road even although yesterday he did 11 miles by mistake - thought that was the 8 mile route  Sorry... I was coming round to the idea, maybe next year!

Thanks Pans Lass. That's two of us then. Four more and we should be able to look after the finish no [problem. Any more helpers?

I'll pm details of what we need to do.
