What are you reading just now?

Have your say....

I stopped reading Lottery to read a brand new Tess Gerritsen I came across when shopping the other day! I'm a definite "bookaholic" - I couldn't walk away knowing it was there on the shelf....I tried, really I did!!
Keeping the Dead by Tess Gerritsen was fantastic - I finished it this afternoon and though this story is back to our favourite Gerritsen characters Isles and Rizzoli, anybody could pick it up and enjoy it! Love her!!
Back to lottery but also have our latest bookclub read to get through which is "The suspicions of Mr Witcher or the murder at Road Hill House" by Kate Summerscale - hmmmm - not sure but will give it a go :D

The Operative by Duncan Falconer, enjoyed the fast paced story line but flicked over the pages containing technical jargon.
Falconer is an ex member of the elite British Special Boat Service and his novels reflect this.

I`ve just finished The Guilty, by Jason Pinter, a new author to me, but it`s the 2nd of 3 books he`s written. At first I thought it was a bit slow and ordinary, but it improved as it went on, and I quite enjoyed it, albeit not to rave about it. Am now reading The Murder Exchange, by Simon Kernick. I`ve read a couple of books by him and loved them, hopefully will feel the same about this one.

Up to a few years ago, I`d read every book that Dean Koontz had written, I was an avid fan, then suddenly I lost interest, they became too much of a muchness, but they were very good at the time. I`m not getting as much reading in as I`d like these days, since I started minding my baby grandson, but hope to get back in the swing soon.

Dead Sky by Tami Hoag, thoroughly enjoyable read.Have read a few of her novels before. She seems to always have homicide detective Sam Kovak and his partner Nikki Liska as the main characters.

Well, I`ve finished Murder Exchange by Simon Kernick. At first I didn`t think it was going to be as good as other books I`ve read of his, but ended up loving it! I`m just about to start 7th Heaven, by James Patterson &Maxine Paetro. Was in Asda tonight and saw some books at £2 each, 3 for a fiver, ended up getting 4. They were
The Mark, by Jason Pinter
Whitewash, by Alex Kava
Never Say Die, by Tess Gerritsen
and
Possession, by Peter James

I wasn`t desperate for books, but at that price I thought I should indulge myself!

I'm still on my holiday timeclock and not usually up at this time of night - not like you numberplease
I stopped reading lottery again to pick up "Too close to home" by Linwood Barclay (another Richard and Judy find) - No Time for Goodbye was definitely one of the best reads of 2008 and this is superb.....so far!! There's a picture of the author on the back cover Bill - He's definitely a bloke

Ags, I loved No Time For Goodbye, will definitely be looking for more by Linwood Barclay. And I won`t be up late quite so much now, I have to be up earlier in the mornings these days.

I finished "Too close to home" by Linwood Barclay today - Numberplease and anybody else who likes a thriller, I thoroughly reccommend it! I think it was probably better than his first book and is at the top of my charts so far for 2009!! :D

i am reading SIX BLACK CANDLES by DES DILLON
its my first time reading his work and its so funny, in a dry Glasgow/Irish way.
I'm one of those nutters you see sitting reading and giggling away at the same time in a wee world of her own.
I will defo seek out more of his stuff.

A favourite of mine is JD Robb's stuff (AKA Nora Roberts) and her fururistic detective Eve Dallas, these books are grown up, gritty, funny and dry and very satisfying, and there are lots of them! only problem is the titles all sound similar eg "innocence in Death", "Betrayal in death" etc and the covers are all very similar, so i get all confused about what i've read and what not, and there are about 20 titles, so i end up taking some out of the library in the hope its one i've not read before and realising i've been there and done it already. This is where small libraries are annoying if you are an avid reader with a small budget.

I'm reading Henning Mankell's "The Fifth Woman" at the moment.

There's a great little bookshop in Durness, conveniently located close to Cocoa Mountain.
