Just finished Mike Lawson's third Joe DeMarco novel called Dead on Arrival.

I have thoroughly enjoyed each one.

numberplease wrote:Ags, you said the other day that you`ve read and enjoyed a few Alex Kava books. If Split Second isn`t one of them, I can recommend it, having just finished it. I`ve taken your advice and bought a book by Lee Child, One Shot, I`ll read it when I finish the Patricia Cornwell one that I`m in the middle of. There were a few Lee Child books in Asda, but I just got the one, just in case I don`t like it, but from the synopsis it looks fine.

Split Second is one of them Numbeerplease - I really enjoyed it. I have 6 of her books on my shelf but there are 2 of them I haven't got round to yet! I'm sure you will enjoy One Shot - I have enjoyed all books by Lee Child.
How is your Patricia Cornwell? - I can't bring myself to pick up her books any more. I was so disappointed when she went off the boil a few years back!
I finished my Simon Kernick this morning - it was great as usual. Have you read any of his Bill?
I am about to pick up ANOTHER new James Patterson!! He is jumping my "to read" queue but I know it will be a "fast" read!

I hope that doesn't put you off posting Hugh? Let us know about "The perfect storm" - i have looked at it a few times but never bought it!

Hello Ags, I have read a couple other Alex Kava books, but can`t remember the titles, I`m also very keen on Simon Kernick. Looking forward to getting to know Lee Child. As for Patricia Cornwell, this book is okaaay, but not outstanding, as you say, she`s gone off the boil recently. Hugh, don`t know whether to read The Perfect Storm or not, I really enjoyed the film, and when that`s the case I tend to shy away from the films in case they don`t live up to the book, which is what happened with Bella Mafia and Flowers in the Attic, loved the books but thought the films were rubbish.

Just finished "A Quiet Belief in Angels" by R.J.Ellory(male)

I sit quietly.I feel the warmth of my own blood on my hands, and I wonder how long I will continue to breathe.I look at the dead body of the man before me,and I know in some small way justice has been seen to be done.
We go back now,all the way back to the beginning.Walk with me,if you will, for this is all I can ask,and though I have committed so many wrongs I believe that I have done enough right to warrant this much time.
Take a breath.Hold it.Release it.Everything must be silent, for when they come, when they finally come for me,we must be quiet enough to hear them come.

Well worth a read.

Ags I have read two Simon Kendrick novels, very fast paced and enjoyable, though I prefer the American genre.

The Lost Boy by Duncan Staff, going over The Moors Murders again but
with an emphasis on finding the whereabouts of Keith Bennett's remains.
Read the first hundred odd pages last night.

Ahhh, Flowers in the Attic...loved that one!!! Read it as a teen & recall being captivated yet really weirded out by it  Creepy & very disturbing. I went on to read a handful of her subsequent books, too  Good stuff!
& I agree, the movie sucked.

I just started reading Amy Tan's 'Saving Fish From Drowning'. I really love her writing!! & the movie for her book 'The Joy Luck Club' was excellent, imo!

Have finished my first Lee Child book, One Shot, really enjoyed it, can`t think why I didn`t come across him sooner, thank you Ags, must look for more now! Am now reading The Guilty, by Jason Pinter, another author I haven`t read before. It`s his 2nd book, and there`s another after it. Seems promising so far.

Just finished "Shadow Man" by Cody McFadyen male

Excellent read. This is the 1st novel by said author, published in 2007.

If you like serial killer thrillers then this is for you.Thoroughly good read.

The lead character is FBI agent Smoky Barrett female .Checking the authors home page I see he has since written another two novels both with Smoky Barrett as the lead character.I certainly will be looking for them on the bookshop shelf.
