The Boss!

Have your say....

Got it in one Sheik.Over an hour of pure nostalgia,no time wasted between tracks straight from one song to the next. Was very surprised to hear him sing Claudette though.

I heard his son Wesley sing back in 1991,if you had closed your eyes you would have thought it was his father. The fact he was singing two of his father's biggest hits also was a factor.
I know my Summer'll never come
I know I'll cry until my dying day has come
Let the Winter roll along
I've got nothing left but song

Horse will probably know more about this film but Brucie is doing the soundtrack. Here's the gumph:

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN'S "THE WRESTLER" -- HEAR IT NOW!

The Wrestler, a new film starring Mickey Rourke and directed by Darren Aronofsky, is now showing in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles (and opens everywhere else soon).

Haven't seen the trailer yet? Watch it here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=61-GFxjTyV0&utm_source=Publicaster&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=EMLBSTOS_wrestler_email_20081218

The title song, heard in the trailer, is a brand new Bruce Springsteen track! It's available on iTunes now!

"I wrote Bruce a letter, because we've known each other over twenty years, and he knows what I used to be, or whatever. Where I went. What I'd been reduced to. I told him how I felt lucky now and didn't have to end up being this guy, being Randy (character from The Wrestler). A while later, I got a call in the middle of the night: he said he'd written a little song, for nothing. It's f***ing beautiful, right? I was honoured he took the time, because he's a busy cat. I mean, I'm so goddamn proud of this magical movie and to have Bruce's input… ain't nobody in Hollywood with all their millions can just ring the man and he'll do a song, y'know?"
— Mickey Rourke

I've been told by a very reliable source that it will indeed be the resurrection of Rourke and have read twice that he'll be nominated for an Oscar! Personally, it looks a bit over-sentimental to me.
But the song is great!

Sheik........You will be delighted to know that Kirsten is being "brucewashed" with the live in New York dvd that I got for Christmas......We are at "the river" just now and I have goosebumps - a very different version of the song!! Dying to watch Frankie Boyle or Russell Howard but The Boss is slightly more child friendly  and listening to iain ranting about the "musical education" and how she will "thank him for it one day" is almost as amusing as either of them will be

Re my post above - what do you know? Not only did Rourke pick up the best actor award last night at the Golden Globes ceremony for The Wrestler, BRUCIE DID TOO!!!!!! Yes, a Golden Globe for the Best Song from a Motion Picture for the Boss! :D Of course, this is his second, Streets of Philadelphia being his first and which went on to pick up an Academy Award!

And doesn't he look good, girls? :D

GG & Ags - I've got a couple of gigs coming up in the next few months, which should be interesting. Bob Dylan in the Edinburgh Playhouse and Jackson Browne in the Festival Theatre. Really looking forward to seeing both of them in relatively intimate surroundings.

Excellent Sheik!! Full concert reviews expected :D
Well done The Boss on his Golden Globe - it's amazing the things you read first on the Kintyre Forum - any news programmes I saw were too full of a totally stunned Kate Winslet to mention anybody else!!
New album pre-ordered!!!

Can you still get get tickets GG? Don't know why it's all arenas on the tour with one theatre thrown in, but anyway I was keen to see him at the Playhouse as opposed to the SECC.

This is just fantastic! Bruce Springsteen and Pete Seeger singing 'This Land is Your Land' at Obama's Inaugural Celebration yesterday in front of Lincoln's Memorial. Wish, wish, WISH I could have been there. I know it's an American word but it's awesome!!!!!! And does Bruce look 60 next year? Damned well doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!

I came on here to post this for Govangirl because I just came across this clip via another source (not having been here for a couple of days) ... but she beat me to it. This is simply wonderful! :D

I saw the Bruce in 1980 or 81 in Edinburgh (Playhouse), and then in 85 or so in Leeds (Boundary Park). A long time ago. Anyway, his enthusiasm for his music and performing is undiminished.

Try this link - might work better: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Xg0wiOHc9tI

Thanks for that Mary - glad to hear you're a fan! :) I don't know why the guy removed his video but it was the same one as this. The background is just something else but all these youngsters singing so proudly and then the audience - and Obama - joining in just brought tears to my eyes. :D
