I didn`t get any books, but I got a W.H.Smith voucher, and £40 worth of Asda vouchers, plus some cash, so I`ll be on the book trail very soon!
Ooh, Chic Murray! I used to love that man, especially with his wife Maidie, he`s missed.
Hubby surprised me with a lovely new laptop, a pretty red one.
At the moment I`m reading a Peter James book, Dreamer, it`s not bad, I`ve just finished another of his, Sweet Heart, slightly spooky, but I enjoyed it. This is another in the same vein.

Not much!  And certainly not any books. I really need to start reading more. For some reason I've never read many books - well not since the Hardy Boys!  Think it is the short concentration span I have...

Just been reading this thread for the first time - interesting thread indeed, well done!

I always fancied trying an audio book for the car Westport321.....we have had some kids stories and what a gem they are on a long journey!!
I have just finished Things I want my Daughters to know.....Bill, Hugh, HCJF......you would hate it but its a great girlie book and ladies I defy any of you not to like it! I have ordered The Reading Group by the same author tonight, and I am so pleased my first Elizabeth Noble was a present,,,,,,I'm sure I would have passed it by in a bookshop!!

Ags I read that when in hospital a couple of months ago. It was great-you know me I love a good greet! It's the type of book that would make a great girlie film too.

Well love - you know when you greet at page one it's bound to be a "good one"!! I think it was even more poignant for me because I got it from Rachel, hymns, colours, recent situations, it was all just very sad although it made me laugh lots too!!

Finished James Patterson's 7th Heaven, the latest in his women's murder club books.

I read all of Patterson's books, but I must admit this series of stories is wearing a bit thin.

Nothing as yet, Govangirl. I forgot to take the Asda vouchers with me last week, so will use them, hopefully, on Thursday. I went to Waterstones with my other voucher on Saturday but they weren`t accepting theem because the bit of the till that deals with them was out of order. I did go to The Works and got 3 books for a fiver though. I`m reading the first one at the moment, Star Struck, by Val McDermid, but up to now I`m not impressed. The other 2 are Zodiac, by Robert Graysmith, a true story of an American serial killer, and the other is The Tomb of God, by Richard Andrews and Paul Schellenberger, it might be a bit Da Vinci Code-ish, but we`ll see.
I`ve just finished You`ve Been Warned, by James Patterson and Howard Roughan, it was OK, but not the usual Patterson standard. Recently finished 3 by Peter James, enjoyed `em all.

Do you think by turning out three or four books a year James Patterson is letting his standards slip a little? How does he do this co-writing? Does he set out the plots and leave the others to do most of the writing?
I'm now on to "The Reading Group" by Elizabeth Noble but it's not a patch on the previous book I mentioned! They take their bookclub a bit more seriously than us I think......"spines well broken, yellow post it notes and folded down corners marking their favourite passages"  Also read a couple of "Beadle the Bard" stories by J K Rowling last night and enjoyed them very much!
I know Lewis Hamilton is just a young thing and I am normally the first to critisicise autobiographies by young people but it's quite an interesting read! Still reading it!
