Just wondering if there is any more info on these as I read on the website there is a change for format?

Doon the Green

The only change will be in the length of the programme. This year it will be slightly longer - weather of course permitting. Look forward to a number of bands on stage as per normal.

Doon the green cancelled

Postby John A » Sat Aug 18, 2007 9:34 am

I've just spoken to Alex McKinven and the committee have had to cancel the parade and doon the green because of the wet weather.
They hope to have the parade tomorrow (Sunday) but doon the green is cancelled for this year :(

Thanks for that message John, I came on here especially to find out if there were any developments due to the weather. That is the power and beauty of the forum, thats why it is important to keep it going.

I am gutted that everything is cancelled. The organisers must be too. They work so hard for months just for this day.

However, we made it to last nights ceilidh and it was fantastic. Skerryvore were brilliant. Tiree's answer to Westlife had everyone dancing right from the start. We must get them back for sure. Can't believe Buzz didn't like them. but I am sure all the younger female audience were bowled over by them too.

Roll on the Stranglers tonight!

Every year as far as I can remember its been brilliant sun shine on the day, its such a shame, what a disappointment for everyone involved and of course all the weans and big weans that really look forward to the day. I suppose we cant change the weather.

Hope its dry tomorrow for the parade. :)
