There can't be many places on the West of Scotland where this manoevre is possible, having such a big slip? Wonder if that makes Campbletown a preferred destination for the seaplane company?

Like Bill I wondered what happened about passengers getting on/off it, and your photo shows it perfectly. Thanks.

I'd heard that did actually happen and the pilot (an elderly lady in her 70's) got out and walked in to the restaurant, and Mota shouted ........ wait for it ..........

Passengers actually got off the PLANE at the airport first, then they boarded the BOAT at the slip.

When the craft is in the water it is actually classed as a boat, it is only classed as an aircraft when it gets airborne.

it will be interesting to see how this goes as the whole sea plane operation stuff is under review by the civil aviation authority, Loch lomand Seaplanes is also a bit of a 'test in the water' for them also as they have never licensed an runway on the old h20 before, pretty difficult in the loch with all the boats coming & going & it would need to be clearly marked out.
To infinity & beyond, & even at that do one!!!

Seaplane set to come every Wednesdays

Postby Golfmad » Thu Aug 23, 2007 7:29 am

The new 10 seater plane which was launched a city centre terminal at the Clyde on Monday is considering a regular service to Campbeltown depending on demand.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/gla ... 953842.stm

I flew up on it yesterday we arrived at the glasgow science centre at 10.50am and flew at 11.00am we landed in Campbeltown Loch at 11.35am... it was fantastic, we were then collected and taken out to the new course. The plane then flew back to Glasgow at 12.15 and got in at 12.50.

If any one is interested in flying from Glasgow to Campbeltown or back this is a great option. The owner explained that if there is demand he could do this every Wednesday and be back in Campbeltown to collect at 6.00pm. What a great way to come to Kintyre... or to visit the centre of Glasgow.
