News Flash - 'The Beggars' play Carradale Concert on Friday.

Postby Ptarmigan » Wed Aug 16, 2006 7:20 pm

I've just learned that we, 'Scad the Beggars', will be the support group at the Concert in Carradale Village Hall, on Friday night.

We are really looking forward to playing there as, even although for some of us, this will be our fourth trip over to the Festival, we have never before actually ventured along the Scenic Route to Carradale.

So we're really looking forward to meeting the good people of Carradale.

If you are from Carradale &/or are planning to go to this concert, you might be interested to know that we play Irish Traditional Music, with a flavour of North Antrim, which in turn has been influenced by Scottish Music over the years.

Our line up this year is:

Kathleen King (Co. Antrim) - Fiddle
Edel Keaveney (Co. Galway) - Fiddle
Proinsias Mac Cionnaith [Frank] (Co. Down) - Guitar
Sabine Glasgow - Co Antrim (Germany) - Harp/Fife/Vocals
Annie O'Donnell - Co. Antrim (France) - Flute/Whistle/Dance
Dick Glasgow - Co Antrim (Scotland) - Fiddle/Concertina/Banjo/Hammered Dulcimer

As well as the music, Sabine may well sing a song & as Annie is a great Irish Dancer, I hope the Village Hall has a strong floor? :D

Cheers
Dick

Dick, is this in addition to the advertised bands or in place of one of them?

Aye Beachcomber,

As I understand it, we are taking the place of the support band, who, through no fault of their own, have had to cancel.

Slightly bad taste, given the reason for Syntax's late cancellation, but you might not know that.

We're all looking forward to seeing and hearing you tonight.

Its near quarter past 3 in the morning.....just home from the Trumpton Riot.....

Certainly was a great night, all bands fantastic but I went to see Hugh Trowsers and was not dissapointed.
Never thought I would find myself dancing in front of the stage with the youngsters again......stone cold sober!!

Hope they can perform agin Doon The Green tomorrow
