Careful Jamie

You and I both know the origins of "The Burnside Bash" (C)copyright: YouKnowWho
and you're in danger of making it retro!
For your perusal:

fifties / sexties / seventies / hateies / nineties / noughties
Al Martino> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >Gnarls Barkley

- sorry but - like "The Burnside Bash" - ye didna' invent it

- ye don't have the monopoly on being young & intae music

- we were a' young once & intae oor preferred sounds too - surprised ur ye?

- and aye - we thought oor music wiz better than the previous generation as well

- in fact nooadays a lot of it is sampled music that us 'auld yins' grew up wi'

- I rest my case - dae ah? - maybe's aye maybe's naw - oh & it's i-e naw y

"...everything that you KNOW is WRONG / SMELL the FLOWERS while you can / beLIEve..."

"...I'm just a space cadet - he's the commander..."

" ...don't watch that - watch this!..." "...is that it?..."

and if any of the above sounds like an auld fla' rantin n ravin ah make NAE APOLOGIES!

The thing is, the young always think they are doing something new or innovative, when much of it is neither. There are some brilliant people, young and old, but age has nothing to do with talent and little to do with musical tastes, except that older people who love music have probably been exposed to much more excellent music of all kinds.

I saw A NEW HOPE a few times in and around the town playing to well packed places.Your quite right about their bass player being the best this side of the rocky burn.Their drummer was ok ,as drummers go but i prefered their original line up. STUART McMILLAN -RHYTHM GUITAR & LEAD VOCALS
DARREN BRODIE - LEAD GUITAR
KEITH GILLIES- BASS AND BACKING VOCALS
and ALLESSI 500 DRUM MACHINE.-BEATS AND TEMPOS.

Thanks Bobbie - that's why I added the quotes at the end of my speil - they are all related to music - most of which younger folk won't have a clue about (and probably don't care either).

I don't have a problem with that - it's nobodys fault when they were born - but if you are a music fan you should realise that where it's at now is only a progression of what went before.

Todays latest sound will be auld hat soon enough. Although apart from a very few, most modern bands etc. seem to be very short lived compared to 20 to 30 or even 40 years ago.
