CJRC xcountry 2015 (open)

Postby DJD » Fri Oct 23, 2015 8:48 pm

Campbeltown Junior Running Club will hold a series of xcountry races over the winter period. We have decided it will be an open event, and free to all, Male/Female.

The events will be ran over the months ahead and the exact dates TBC

Nov 2015
Dec 2015
Jan 2016
Feb 2016
Mar 2016

The only criteria is that one has to be in Primary 5/6/7 and it is also open to the S1/S6

The distance will be as follows-:

P5/6/7 will be a total of 1250m
S1/S3 will be a total of 2500m
S4/S6 will be a total of 3200m

Medals and prize for 1st/2nd/3rd - M/F for both in P5/P6/P7 classes. S1/S6 will be decided on the numbers, as to prize or prizes.

The scoring will be done over the 5 events and will be as follows.

1:The one with the lowest score is the winner overall in the M/F class category.

Example -; if you come 3rd / 5th / 7th / 2nd / 8th your score will be 25,, and if that is the lowest total, then he/she is placed 1st and the next lowest total will be placed 2nd and so on.

This is an opportunity for all to enjoy, and add to their repertoire of sports.

We are looking to strengthen the 9/10 year old male or female group for next spring, within the junior running club. So if you are interested, this xcountry event, will put you in good stead to get into the club, as we are looking for keen runners. Plus, xcountry is fun, and you, like us all, might surprise yourself and like the challenge,so give it a try.

Also, within the bigger picture, we hope to be taking teams up to compete in the SA events within 1 -3 years, to enter and challenge the events, along with the bigger City clubs.

What we have seen so far, is that, YES, runners from Campbeltown can compete against them, it just take time to reach their standard.

Also, any age if interested enough are also welcome, so don't think we are only after above age group. If you are keen, then we are to take you on.

Hi all

FYI

2015 Scottish National Short Course XC Championships

https://youtu.be/4qnCuit3o5k

Have a good run at the Xcountry Festival at Kilmarnock this Sunday, Euan Charlwood, well done to you on taking this on. Watch this to get some idea on what to expect, but not as bad.

Also, Just like to mention Kenny Campbell got his Scottish Vest and ran for Scotland in Dublin last weekend and also got a team gold for his effort at this meeting . This is what we aim for " well done Kenny "

We are waiting confirmation of the official Results from the Kilmarnock xcountry race yesterday, in the mean time the results from this race that concerns us are as follows.

Under 11s Euan Charlwood, 4th place (well done to you)
Under 13s Gregor Campbell, 4th place
Under 15s Cameron Campbell 2nd place.

Hopefully next year we have a lot more from the club entering or even maybe a team of under 11s. It shows, as I have said before, we can compete and we are not up there, just to make the numbers up. So keep up your training and attend the club days and who knows what one can achieve.

Hi all,

Well done to all that braved the weather and what must of been one of the most miserable xcountry days we have had so far. Here are the results, which have probably been put on face book already. I like the results to be recorded on here for history sake and not get lost in the big social networks.

The course at the school was a bit longer this time (0.83 of a mile, (1350m approx) because we like to challenge you slightly more for progression purposes. It is the reason for your times being above your last effort.

The next xcountry race will be the Sunday 21st February at the Meadows ( reverse route ) but could be subject to change.

Euan Charlwood..................6:03
Ryan Shields.......................6:05
Ruairidh Campbell..............6:10
Oliver Reid..........................6:11
Violet Campbell..................6:18
Calum McAllister................6:26
Lorne Paterson..................6:35
Max Graham......................6:36
Daniel Semple...................6:41
William McLean.................6:44
Heather Millar....................6:57
Claudia Graham................7:03
Caryn Kerr.........................7:20
Alison Wylie......................7:40
Sean Charlwood...............7:54
Robert Kerr.......................7:56
James Reid.......................8:10
Rianne Coffield.................9:02
Emma Millar......................9:02
Niamh Quinn.....................9:02
Sophie Renton..................9:25
Emily McMurchy...............9:36
Hannah Millar....................9:41
Cara McFadzean..............9:48

Here are the details of this months Xcountry.

Date : Sunday 21st February.

Venue : The Meadows

Time : 10:30 am (Start)

Distance approx 1400m

The route will be the opposite way round from the last time ( Clockwise ). We aim to include 2 sharp little inclines to disrupt your running rhythm as the norm for a more authentic xcountry race. ( please wear appropriate footwear ) if you have no spikes, then football boots should add to a better grip.

Hopefully the weather is a bit kinder for all. Helpers again, and like last time would again be appreciated scattered around the course as marshals and first aides if needed.

New runners welcomed, but must be used to running this sort of distance and aged 9years or as close to.

Thanks

The final xcountry race of this season will take place on a Saturday as opposed to a Sunday due to the coaches commitments over the next couple of weekends, and the Easter holidays. The event venue will be at the Grammar school but is subject to change and if so it will be held at the meadows.

the events details as follows

Race 5

Date : Saturday 19th March 2016

Venue : Grammar School / Meadows

Time 10:30

Distance : 1500m (progression distance)

Terrain : Grass

Hope to see all or most runners that have competed over this winter, before we move on to the spring/summers Handicap which starts on the middle of April sometime, and yet to be confirmed on another thread.

Also we will be moving on, to start a long term training program for the "Super Teams" under 12s held at the Emirates Arena as previously mentioned next February. ( if successful as a club training program for the event )

The 19th of March race is cancelled due to it clashing with the Badminton. We are looking at an alternative date. Sorry about this, but we will endeavour to see the last race off.

Thanks.
