Malapropism

Postby EMDEE » Sun May 12, 2013 2:24 pm

I just heard this week of someone who is a keen home baker and states that one of the ingredients in their cakes is "defecated coconut".

Don't think I'll be trying the cakes. :?

My dear departed Mother-in-Law made a few."Compensation running down the windows" was one.She once said that a friend of hers was going in to hospital for some tests and was to have a "Bavarian meal".I tried defecated coconut. It is c**p.

The whole point about these malapropisms is that they need to be factual. they are easy to make up, but if they are factual it raises the level of the unconscious humour.

One that springs to mind is of a kitchen porter who reported to his employer that he could not come to work because he had "hepatitis on his arm".

My favourite has to be my brothers comment when we were playing cards over 40 years ago.
We had worked out what he had left in his hand and were teasing him. He got annoyed and shouted "You shouldn't jump to Kilcousland" meaning conclusions.
Still shuts him up even now.
