MAUREEN BELL (KEITH) OLD POSTCARDS OF CAMPBELTOWN

Postby carlen222 » Sun Mar 11, 2012 11:12 pm

My mum Maureen started collecting postcards of Campbeltown and the surrounding villages when she realised her Grandfather Edward Keith was responsible for taking some of the photos and publishing the postcards. This hobby began at a young age when she found some of the cards in her house. In recent years the collection has grown considerably, with visits to postcard fairs and the internet.

She is always on the lookout for very old postcards, from anywhere in kintyre, but especially ones taken by her Grandfather, two of which are of Drumlemble, and one day her wish is that she will lay her hands on these :)

I hope you enjoy looking through this small sample of her cards, and if this makes you recall any old dusty postcards lying in the attic, please keep my mum in mind as I'm sure shed be interested in looking at them.

A fantastic collection of postcards your mother has Lesley :).

Seeing some of the buildings not here anymore, the weigh bridge at the head of the old quay,Templars hall and many more.

Looking forward to seeing some others.

They are great. Have seen some before, but most I've never seen.

Going to have another look through these when I've more time.

Thanks for taking the time for posting them up 8) :D

Fascinating place Martin. We played in the burn as youngsters, still there to the left of google map.The metal parts are catchment screens for debris.
