After attending the Scottish Athletics Annual Conference in Glasgow we are currently speaking to Run 4 It in Glasgow regarding them potentially visiting Argyll to do shoe fittings and provide general running gear advice.
They have indicated that they would hopefully bring their running machine with camera set up to carry out assessments of running styles as well as carrying out other assessments to provide advice on the best types of shoes to wear. They would likely bring a variety of shoes and other running gear which could be purchased although there would be no pressure to buy. They are keen to build relationships with Jog Scotland groups in areas more remote from Glasgow and are investigating the possibilities of visiting areas like Argyll.
As this is early days we are not sure whether any visit would be at a weekend or on a weekday evening and whether it would be in a more central location such as Lochgilphead or whether they would visit individual towns such as Campbeltown, Oban, Lochgilphead etc.
It would be useful to know the level of interest there is from runners and joggers across Argyll so that I can pass on ideas of numbers who might want to attend and hopefully build our case for a visit.
If you are interested coming along to a Run 4 It visit then please email fifi8@hotmail.co.uk and it would be really helpful if you provide some of the information below:
Are you in need of new shoes in the next few months?
Are you interested in receiving fitting advice from Run 4 It?
Would you consider buying shoes from Run 4 It on a visit from them (if the price/choice etc was appropriate)?
Is there any other running gear you would like to see them bring along?
Would you prefer a visit in late 2011 or early 2012?
Would you be willing to travel to Lochgilphead if Run 4 It could only manage one location on the visit?
Any information you could give me would be of great help in trying to organise a visit.
Many thanks
Fiona Irwin
