Not quite.....someone who has had a profound effect on the football transfer market within the EU.is Belgian Jean-Marc Bosman.

I think we have all heard of the Bosman ruling.

Hi Bill ! Underlining the fact that no country is perfect, we also have the paedophile Marc Dutroux, (in prison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Dutroux) and another paedophile, the "soon-to-be-in-prison-Cardinal-I-hope"..., Cardinal Danneels.

One might even be inspired to ask such a stupid question as..., "what exactly are MPs there for"? Or perhaps..., "exactly what do they do with their time"?

Iain, I read today that Belgium have now beaten the "world record" for not having a Government, eclipsing the previous record set by Iraq!!! Wow

Quite so ! Seems as if we've done a 360° turn…, back to the first post !

PS We've one of the biggest governments in the world in one of the smallest countries…, and even when they're not working, they're still being paid !!!

Sorry…, but I just couldn’t keep myself from posting this !

I know I already made a brief mention of this before, (Belgium manufacturing much of the British Army’s weaponry from the old SLR to everything Browning such as the 9mm army pistol) ..., here’s another Belgian wink !
As a jeweller, I know it’s not much to talk about, “gold plating” instead of solid gold..., nonetheless, this pistol was manufactured about 30 miles from here ! Liège.
http://www.smh.com.au/world/live-muamma ... 1maya.html
For centuries, Liège has been one of Europe’s most important manufacturers of arms from swords to the latest fire-arms.

For a country about the same size as London..., the next time you hear idiot comedians asking corny questions like “give me the name of a famous Belgian,” think about this post then try estimating the size of his brain.

PS I believe Steven Spielberg is also promoting Tin Tin for the time being !!

PPS Unfortunately..., we also claim rights to having some of the world's most celebrated perverts..., not forgetting pitiful, disgusting priests.

As well as resurrecting this thread, you have also brought yourself back to the forum. As I have said to someone else, the forom has been gey deid recently.

My famous Belgians, as I have possibly previously stated on this hread are (in chronological order):

Henri Vieuxtemps (1820-188)
Eugene Ysaye (1858-1931)
Arthur Grumiaux (1921-1986)

It just depends on what your interests are,and it may not mean a lot to many people, but I would make the observation that in the field of Classical violin music, merely through the these three individuals alone, Belgium has punched well above its weight. In the case of Vieuxtemps, I think you will find a monument to him in Verviers, his birthplace.
