Postcard Killers, from James Patterson with Liza Marklund,is by far and away the best from Patterson for a long time.No doubt a lot of the praise must go to his co-author,Swedish crime thriller writer Liza Marklund.

Haven't posted on this thread before but must recommend a book I recently re-read...A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, wonderful social commentary from an extremely talented writer who had a tragically short and unhappy life.

Last book I read was 'Don't Tell Mum I Work on the Rigs, She Thinks I'm a Piano Player in a Whore House'...can't mind the author's name the now but it was an excellent read, wickedly amusing and disturbing in equal parts, a real eye-opening account of one man's career on the rigs.

Welcome to the thread Francii. I haven`t had any dealings with your kind of reading matter though, I`m a dyed in the wool thriller addict. Just coming to the end of another Tom Thorne story, From the Dead, by Mark Billingham, enjoyable, as usual.

Michael Connelly's latest"The Fifth Witness"centers on lawyer Micky Haller. No Harry Bosch participation at all.
Up to his usual high standards, apart from "Five Dragons",what a stinker. Infact as courtroom dramas go it is not far of Grisham at his early best.

Wilbur Smith's latest "Those in Peril"is a stand alone adventure. If you have read any of his previous you will know what to expect.Be prepared though for a very steamy, explicit sex scene.

I loved Five Dragons Bill! Never been a big fan of Wilbur Smith, have read about 3 of his that were given to me, never been tempted to buy more. I`ve just finished Play to Kill, by P.J.Tracy, the mother/daughter collaborators, another tale involving Monkeewrench, the not too legal or illegal computer hackers, very enjoyable. Have just started The Make, by Jessie Keane, not sure whether I`m going to like it or not at this stage.

One of those books on my list that I've always been meaning to read. You've inspired me to read it now!

Struggling with Wobegon Boy just now by Gary Edward "Garrison" Keillor. Got as far as page 50 but don't think I'll put myself through much more of it.
Ouch !

The Survivor is a debut novel from Vancouver cop Sean Slater, and a very welcome addition he is to the crime thriller genre.

"The Survivor is about a cop who runs into an Active Shooter situation at his daughter's high school. Of course, everything at Saint Patrick's High isn't as it appears, and soon Homicide Detective Jacob Striker finds himself in a very dangerous world, one that not only puts him directly in the line of fire, but his daughter as well."

I would say it is definitely one for you Numberplease.Have you read the Robert Crais ??

Not yet Bill, it`s next in the pile! The Survivor sounds just my thing, you`re right. The Make was unexpectedly enjoyable, I wasn`t too keen at the start. I`ve just finished A Dance of Ghosts, by Kevin Brooks, a good story, but I didn`t really care much for the "hero", John Craine. Im now reading Worth Dying For, another Jack Reacher tale from Lee Child.

Worth Dying For, by Lee Child, was great, typical Jack Reacher, wonder if Ags has read it yet? Bill, I`ve just started the Robert Crais, L.A.Requiem, looks promising.

Finished the Robert Crais book Bill. I wasn`t too sure about it at first, but ended up really enjoying it, and will be on the lookout for more by him. Am now reading Heartstone, by C.J.Sansom, the latest in the series about the 16th century lawyer Matthew Shardlake, I absolutely love these.

Heartstone was brilliant, am about to start on The Executioner, by Chris Carter, I enjoyed his other book, The Crucifix Killer, so high hopes. I`ve just received a secondhand book I ordered from the Amazon site, Forgie, The Story of Pennwood Forgemill, my favourite show jumping horse of all time, from back in the 70s. It was only 1p, plus £2.80 postage, looking forward to reading it.

The Executioner was very enjoyable, have since read The Bone House, by Brian Freeman, very good, then The Burning Wire, by Jeffrey Deaver, really good, I learned quite a bit about electricity from that! I`m now reading The Killing Hour, by Andrew Gross, it`s taking me a while to settle into it, but I usually like his books, so we`ll see.

Just started the first in the Guido Brunetti series by Donna Leon.

Some of my favourite authors are: Michael Dibdin, Lee Child, Jo Nesbo, David Downing, Lin Anderson, Camilla Lackberg, Arnaldur Indridason, Karin Fossum and Joanne Harris - among many others.

Got a Kindle as a gift and it is great!

I know that lots of people love their Kindles, but I just don`t fancy one, I like the feel of a book in my hand, although I can see the advantage at holiday times.
I`ve just finished an ommnibus by Peter Robinson, Deadly Bones That Dream, and The Hanging Valley, both featuring Det. Insp. Alan Banks, a bit old, but still enjoyable. Am now reading Chosen to Die, by Lisa Jackson, only just started it, but it looks promising.
