A huge well done to the organisers of the first official Campbeltown Santa Dash that took place today! The event, originally to be held in December was cancelled due to the adverse weather but organisers decided to hold the event today and what a great turn out.
A real sense of community spirit with the organisers helped by the Young Farmers and Coastguard. The Dash started off at the Aqualibrium led by a Glenside Tractor. The energetic young ones set the pace racing to the cross leaving many behind but there was great laughter as the Santas raced up the Main Street to the top of Castlehill. Pit stop at the bottom of Ralston Road allowed the mums pushing prams to catch up and then it was off again up to Meadows Avenue and across to Tomaig Road before heading down on to Witchburn Road. Again, everyone re-grouped as they entered the Main Street for a second time and then headed up Longrow. The pace was just right for everyone to enjoy and the banter was great. Finally entering McCallum Street and heading back to the finish at the Aqualibrium the tractor raced off to allow aa sprint finish for a few who had the energy on a day when everyone was a winner!
Everyone received a medal at the end before retiring to the Mussel Ebb Cafe in the Aqualibrium for some well deserved hot and cold drinks and cakes!
Huge well done to the organisers, Aileen McLennan (Town Centre Manager), Jog Scotland and Lindsay Owen, the Active Schools Co-ordinater. (apologies if anyone is missed)
Great day with lots of happy, smiling familes. Well done
Aologies for some of the blurred images, was too busy dashing about!
