Fewer festivals in the Highlands and Islands this year

The article in the Scotsman makes interesting reading:

It is a wee reminder of how tricky it is to get the balance right, thinking about how big a festival should go, reliance on funders, competition, etc, etc. Our own Festival committee has done well to develop something sustainable, and to keep it that way.

That is not to say that there is no case for the marquee/ larger scale type of festival; rather, that is not without its risks, and would need to be done very carefully so as to secure the future of the Festival, I think.

interesting, notice the MOKF wasn't listed despite being the longest established of the lot, maybe the committee should investigate this homecoming thing for funding, might make a marquee and a big name act affordable, even as a one off experiment, was connect totally privately funded or did it get support from holyrood or kilmory?

the comments below the piece were a bit strange tho?
