The Stranglers have now been confirmed as the headline act at this year’s main concert in the Victoria Hall, Campbeltown on August 18th. I know that the rumour mill has been circulating the word round the town for the past few weeks but we did not want to say anything until everything was finalised.
For those who don’t know the band, The Stranglers are a ‘new wave’ punk band established in the mid 1970s. They had 32 Top 40 hits spanning over four decades and 8 Gold Albums, audiences will recognise more tracks than they realise as their greatest hits are part of our culture. Among them are; “No More Heroes”, “Peaches” followed up in the 1980s by “Golden Brown” and “Strange Little Girl”.
You can check out the band at their web site at www.stranglers.net and the Festival committee are delighted to have a band of such calibre to appear this year. We will post up more info as we have it and you can check out the Festival web site www.mokfest.com which has a breakdown of other acts that are appearing this year.
