We were delighted to have well known Fiddler ~ Maurice Duncan over here on holiday, last week in Ballycastle & he made such an impression on the local musicians, that I felt compelled to compose this wee March in honour of his visit.

This tune came to me, while playing my Nyckelharpa. However, for this video I play it on my Fiddle, Mandolin, Nyckelharpa & English Concertina.

Should anyone be interested in learning it, you'll find the ABCs & Sheet Music over on the Session website.

Campbeltown musician John Kelly just sent me this link, which is to a sound file of him playing this tune, on his Tenor Guitar, with Guitar backing. 8)

Thanks John, great to hear an Argyll man playing this tune.

Just for the record, anyone familiar with the ABCs system, might like to know that in the comments section, on The Session, a few versions have now been posted, by other musicians in various keys to suit different instruments, including: Dmaj, Amaj, Amix & Gmaj

That looks like it was a great holiday for Maurice, albeit a bit of a bus-man's one!

You can't beat great music-making in a find pub. In Ballycastle too :)

Just noted that on "The Session" and "Sound Cloud" it states the tune was written:

to commemorate the visit of Oban fiddler Maurice Duncan to Ballycastle

Now, pedantically, Maurice lives in Oban, but is from Campbeltown.

Not that any of that takes away from the quality of the tune. Really nice :D

Hi Mary, good to see that Campbeltown is so proud of one of their own.

Anyway, you'll be pleased to know that I've now added that info to the sites.

P.S. Glad you enjoyed the wee tune.

Following a couple of requests from musician friends, I decided to post another version of this video, over on Vimeo, this time featuring mostly video clips of me actually playing the instruments.
