HELP & SUPPORT? - Yes please

Postby russanros » Fri Sep 16, 2011 7:43 pm

If you would like to be involved in the event, but not the actual cycling. We would welcome any offers of help with administrative tasks before the ride or with practical help on the day. On the day we will be looking for people who are willing to help with:

• Marshalling
• People to sign riders in/out at the Ardshiel
• Check in points/Feed Stations at Keil Point, Kennacraig, and Carradale
• Sweepers, to follow cyclists through sections, by car or motorbike
• Putting up and taking down route signs (day before/after)

You can contact us by the forum PM function or at the new http://www.mokbike.com website,
Thank you to people who have already offered help and those involved in distributing and displaying posters/fliers in Kintyre & beyond.

UPDATE:

We are someway to establishing the location of feed/water stations.

- Challenge Route, Dunaverty beach layby next to toilets. We have volunteers to run this

- Ultimate Route, Carradale, forum user 'Crowth' has negotiated use of the community fire station, so we will be able to use their toilets and have hot/cold drinks, we may need extra volunteers here as 'Crowth' is a member of the fire brigade and may have to 'pop out' if there is a callout!

- Ultimate Route , Clachan/Whitehouse, this is still under negotiation, will report back in due course.

Marshalling:
We have offers of volunteers for marshalling, but we need more.
If you'd be interested in this, please contact us through http://www.mokbike.com website or the PM function here.

Please tell us if you live on route and would like to just marshall/encourage riders through your own patch or whether you would like to be 'strategically placed' at a location where you could interact and make a difference?

Sweepers:

Again we can probably do this with 2 vehicles, but 3 or 4 (or more) would be better,
Motorcycle/Car or Van -
Sweeper function, to follow the riders round the respective routes ensuring that check points/marshalls are free to close/go after last rider through. Encourage/Help riders with difficulties, stay with riders in an emergency situation.

• Putting up and taking down route signs (day before/after)

If anyone could help me with this please get in touch, there is 'a plan' for the directional signs for the participants, but also a wider need for 'Slow down for Cycle Event' signs, particularly on the A83 between Kennacraig & Campbeltown, and B842 between Stewarton & Southend.
