coasting around britain

For 2011 we have decided to give the healthy local running and jogging community a forum of their own!

coasting around britain

Postby fiona28 » Thu Jan 14, 2010 8:30 pm

Hey fellow runners

Anyone fancy being a part of a challenge that's going round the coast of britain. Setting off from the Blackpool towers runners will in relay style carry a baton around the coast of britain and back to Blackpool. Argyll and Bute had sorta been missed off as they thought it would be too complicated (they are english!!!) so i've taken up the gauntlet to get us involved. A runner will bring the baton off the ferry at Claonaig where hopefully our team of runners will begin the trail to OBAN. Im going to get in contact with the Jogscotland groups up the road and get them to hopefully join in.

Rabidcabbage and mrs cabbage would be grateful of any contacts you could give me.

here's the link to the Runners World Forum for the event:

http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/for ... t=1&V=6&SP

I've agreed to be co-ordinator for this part of the world so let me know if you want to be in on the excitement.

l will have crack and run a leg for you Fiona28,l'm sure you will have a great respone from all the runners to show Campbeltown can match the big towns on the coastline of Britain to play its part in this.

Had a look at the website .....so it starts the 9th May ...do you think it will reach us before the MOK .lol

Looks like it would be good to be part of it ....by that time i should be up to do some decent miles ...so count me in ....another training incentive .

Count me in Fiona28, as long as it doesn't coincide with the Glasgow Womans 10k either which is around that time.

Fiona,
possibly available - the offers are growing

...maybe we could really show off and do the 70 miles round the peninsula before heading up to Oban :D

I'd quite like to be involved in this fiona28, just depends on date/time and how far a section you need to do! sounds like fun.

In for a pound in for a penny maybe by then i will manage to run a small chunk of this race also, always liked the relay at school. As long as it doesn't clash with exam times i should be fine to do a bit. Yes would be nice to see Campbeltown up there with the rest.
