Jog Scotland Santa Fun Dash /Switching on of Xmas lights

For 2011 we have decided to give the healthy local running and jogging community a forum of their own!

Jog Scotland Santa Fun Dash /Switching on of Xmas lights

Postby Pans Lass » Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:43 pm

Jog Scotland leaders are planning a Santa Fun Run/stroll Thursday November 26th for the switching on of the Xmas lights. 8)

We are organising a float to be part of the parade and hope all Jog Scotland members will come along and be part of the fun and dress up as Santa . We would like the kids to be involved as mini Santa's so if you would like them to be part of the float please let your Jog Leader know by Monday the 26th October . Santa suits can be ordered for £5 each so if you would like to purchase one for this exciting event please bring your money on Monday so we can get them ordered asap.

Any help / ideas to decorate the float (nearer the time) would be greatly appreciated .

As this is a fundraising event we are planning to donate any monies collected on the night to the Local Traders Association for the upkeep of the Christmas lights. 8)

Pans Lass, what you could incorporate which l think would look really good on the night,5mins befor the parade,is to have a Santa dash, from the top of Castle Street and finish at the Cross at the bottom of Main Street(short distance),with having, who ever is on the mike that night to announce and start it.

Then rejoin your float and that would put any doubts to what your float is all about, and it could be annual bit of fun on the switching of the lights night.

Brilliant idea DJD.... :D :D

We had thought of a 3k dash round the town that night but due to the fact most of our joggers have young families and wanted them to be part of it we decided on the float and fun stroll but I like your idea of a short distance Santa dash thru the town and join up with the float . What do you think joggers ? Kids would love it and I am sure us adults too !!

Santa dash great idea! We did the one in Glasgow last year in full santa suits and was a great laugh :-) It was a 5k round Glasgow, was really fun.

have to be very careful as all the lights in the town centre are switched off so not sure if this would be a go-er especially with kids in tow :D

perhaps a dash on a different date would be better?

Surely with a little bit of liaison with the organisers they could switch the light's off after the dash,it would'nt be much to ask,but then again its not my show.

What ever you's do,it will be good to see.
