Gigha Run

Postby Kintyre Forum News » Wed Apr 09, 2008 6:38 pm

Does anyone have any details of the Gigha run this year?

Have sent an e-mail but no reply as of yet.

Heard it is on Saturday the 3rd May ...dont know time of race as it does not seem to be advertised on the Gigha website yet. Hoping to go myself with a few others as it will be a good trial run before the MOK half marathon with it being 11 miles . From what I understand you just enter on the day .

I sent off an e-mail myself today to get an entry form. The address is: lauramackenzie3@btinternet.com. The first e-mail I tried to send came back undeliverable, so I sent a second one incase I had typed it wrong, and it seemed to go through okay. I haven't heard back yet.

Gigha run

Postby fja » Wed Apr 09, 2008 8:53 pm

Thanks for the info, iceblue. Last year I jogged/walked the Gigha run and it was fabulous. Hottest April day probably since records began and a deceptively undulating course - at least for the first 5 miles or so, but very friendly. and loads of encouragement for differently fast folk. Strongly recommended, and this year thanks to Jog Scotland Campbeltown I will be running/jogging it. :D

hi me again, have put this on the Jogscotland string as well, just to let all you members know that our session that weekend will be held on gigha, our training on a saturday morning is geared toward half marathon distances even though we have 10k runners in the group they are enjoying the challenge of the longer distance  and coping with it no problem 8)

this fits in great for a training run for the MOK , all welcome to come and run round the little island with the many inclines in your Jogscotland group, mind wear your colours if you have them

Gigha run

That's something to look forward to, I'll definately be there in my 'wee toon runners' kit as long as it is the 3rd - it's the only Saturday I can do in May.

There is a problem with the e-mail address that is on the posters advertising the race. If you want an entry form then phone Laura on 07979575627 and she will send you out a form. The race information leaflet that I got from Laura advises that the race starts at 12pm for walkers and runners and 2.30pm for cyclists.
