Campbeltown Running Club (Juniors)

For 2011 we have decided to give the healthy local running and jogging community a forum of their own!

Re: Campbeltown Running Club (Juniors)

As from the 21st of October the Tuesday Junior running group will be moving their 18:30hrs time slot, to 17:30hrs to allow for the runners that are, or will move up into the Novice pipe band in the future. The change will be for the better for everyone around, for a number of reasons.

Please can you inform anyone from the club as a reminder.

Hi all

Further to the Cross Country idea of races over the winter period. The option is open to all from P4 upwards, unless you are in the running club, regardless of what class you are in, you are permitted to run as we all know you are capable of running the 1200/1400m

This is an opportunity for all that are 9 years old upwards that want to join the running club in the future. It is also an opportunity for anyone under the age of nine and who are 7 and above, to come along and show commitment and potential so we can make a right decision on your efforts over a period of time.

This also would give you preference at the time of the next intake is being sort after or even before.

We at the running club would like to see as many as possible enter as it is the clubs aim, is to enter races in the " West District Relay Championships and much more This is our long term aim and hopefully yours too. Campbeltown Running Club was mentioned on the "Scottish Athletics" web site as to the us attending the race this year, and we hope to build on that confidence over the next 5 years.

Just like to remind all, that cc is a hard event and for all that are considering entering, then it would be a GOOD idea to start to run the distance and above it now and between the date of the 1st run which will be In the middle of November.

Please watch out for the date and time of the first race in the next week or so.

Thanks

Hi All,

Below is an event invitation, which we attended last year. It is a good experience event as Fiona will testify to that. It is a long way to travel for the race but an experience that you will not encounter here in Campbeltown.

They are a very friendly bunch and Debbie that runs the event is very helpful. It will be good for all that are in this age bracket and not any younger.

One could include it in a weekend up in Glasgow.

Hi All,

The date of the first Cross Country event, will be the Sunday the 16th of November at 10:30 am. Sorry if it has clashed a bit with the Kirkintilloch Cross Country as advertised.

All races will be held on the meadows unless stated before hand.

It will be run on the basis of class ie P4/P5 along with P6/7 in the same race for a distance of 1400m. S1/S6 will also set of at the same time, but will cover 2.8km.

It will be run on a handicap system, with the same scoring and on the current running times. Those that have no time will run of a scratch time, (as like the normal handicap will not score) Medals will be awarded to the first three, m/f of each class group as above, ie P4/P5, P6/P7, S1/S6.

There will be medals for the first three of the younger fraternity of a younger class. m/f.

Please register before the start date of the 16th November.

We hope to have date for Dec, Jan, Feb, pretty soon.

The Campbeltown Running club annual held Schools invitational will be classed as the March event and will not be run on the handicap system but will set off all together, and the finishing order will be added to the other results as points.

Winning results of male and female of the handicap cross country will be sent to your school.

Thanks and any questions feel free to ask.

Hi all,

We meant to put this up ages ago for the runners over the ages of 9 year and up to 15years.

It would not be a bad idea for you to join Scottish Athletics, it has a number of advantages for a minimum cost.

To join it is £5.00 for a year, which in this day and age is a very good fee.

For that you get a

Scottish member number,
insurance ( although you also have it through The club if you have joined)
Scottish Athletics Magazine it is called PB it is a sent (quarterly) with all the news and up and coming events.
It also give you the right to enter your age group races, staged by Scottish Athletics at some great venues ie The Emirates Stadium in Glasgow, and any cross country, hill races organised by them.

I do know a few have it, including my own.

Just thought I would pass the info on, you can find all the details on http://www.scottishathletics.org.uk.

This can be found on Entry Central and was put up on the SA web site a wee while ago for those that are interested. I am waiting to see how many sign up for it around Scotland and if it is going to be well attended then we shall enter.

The distance is the only snag, as it would probaby be an over night job for anyone from here.

Anyway, it is there for your info.

WE, all from the Jnr Running Club would like to wish Euan Charlwood at the age of 10 years old a good 1500m run at the Emirates Indoor Stadium this coming Saturday. He will be competing in a mixed age group of Adults and other youngsters at a pre entry time given for this event.

What a great venue to start your move towards competing against the city boys and afar. (Daunting it may be). It still will have a great impact on you, and a great memory in the taking.

Well done Euan (and Parents).

As the under 12 years old gather up at the Emirates next week to take part in the Indoor SUPERteams 2016 which consists of

4 Male or 4 Female athletes in a team, competing in the following events

60m
4x200m relay
Shot putt
Long Jump

It is Campbeltown JRC aim to put in teams for the following year. So this summer and next years winter training will be set around those events (Run Jump Throw) plus having the other variety of training as we do now.

The age limit is 9 years and under 12 years. We think it is a great opportunity to be able to get involved and compete against other clubs. It moves us as a club closer to having annual goals to train for, and it also opens up other training events, for people to excel at.

Hopefully with everyone's support we can achieve this years goal and this is what it entails as of this year.

Young athletes get set for SUPERteams

WEDNESDAY 3RD FEBRUARY

SUPERteams is a scottishathletics event for our youngest athletes and it is coming up on Sunday at the Emirates Arena – with more than 400 youngsters ready to savour the occasion this year.

And now we have the timetable and pools on this website on the Events page in order to help team managers, parents and helpers in the countdown to Sunday.

Teams of four boys or four girls compete in four events during the course of the day. Those events are a 60m sprint, shot putt throw, long jump and then a 4 x 200m relay.

The whole idea of the SUPERteams is as a development event for our very youngest athletes – having fun while learning events and competing as teams within a club framework.

It is always a great day for the youngsters and once again there was a massive response from our clubs to this event – with more than 100 teams now listed. The timetable on Sunday runs from 10am to 3.40pm (one of the reasons for that is there are regulations about giving athletes of this young age time to recover between events).

Thanks to all involved in helping with this event and good luck to the teams set to be involved.

*SUPERteams are for athletes Under 12. Therefore, to be eligible for SUPERteams athletes must be born between 1 Sept 2004 and 31 Aug 2006. Athletes must also be members of scottishathletics and be aged nine or over.

Just moving this along abit as to remind everyone, they must be a member of Scottish Althletics to be allowed to enter this and other competitions that SA hold.

The cost is £5.00 for a years membership for juniors, which is very reasonable. We will be holding an extra session per week when the summer holidays come about for all that are keen and want to enter. We aim to select two teams one male and one female for the first year. Can be more if possible

Please let one of the coaches know asp if you are keen.

Well done to all that ran the Inveraray Junior Jail break, good result for you guys. Good to see you got a wee spot in the Courier. Just for good measures, it's recorded on here for a number of reasons, (1) it's easy access to recall if needed (2) for one to look back on.

Kirsty Renton 2nd place
Caryn Kerr 3rd place
Sean Charlwood 3rd place
Euan 1st place

Also well done to those that ran the Adult handicap for the first time. The outstanding result was from Ryan Shields on his debut. Ryan achieved a very good time of 21:21sec.
