Well done to all that ran in Chiskan Waters handicap race last night, which ended up being a very fast race on what was near ideal running conditions. A lot of PB's which is aways great to hear, plus very good individual runs which will hopefully lead up to people having a good bash at the Mok race, which is everyone's annual focus.

It was good to see the youngsters numbers starting to increase, and boy can the hold their own.Very well done to MaryAnn Wylie for coming first last night.Great to see all thos that was not able to run for what ever reason,(mostly injuries) turn up and support all. Yes, and thanks to the spectator's aswell.Everyone made it a good night.

Thanks to Suzy,Val, and Douglas for running the event, which went without a hitch on the night as per usual at Chiskan. Thanks, also goes to Margo Turner, for allowing us to park at the farm.

We will get the results up and over to you all, in the next couple of days.

See you all at Bellochantuy come June.

Thanks

I have to put this statement with a smile on my face. With regards to having said Suzy was the rep for JS was a small but unfortunate error on my part. It was put on with out her knowledge that it was meant only to be that runners from JS could go through her as to say they would like to enter a free but fun race in Campbeltown without the insurance that comes with the mickey mouse of third party insurance provided by whoever( home personal insurance is just effective).

May i remind runners that if you engage in running, one should hold one's own personal insurance, because you as a person in a club or outfit only qualifies a basic coverage and really that is only to cover third party (damage etc) and not really yourself if you are at fault. That means if you trip up etc, you are not covered, but if you trip someone up and they are that low, and try to sue you then maybe they will cover you

Lets open this debate without, getting the hump, like one or two touching on three, do normally. I am aways open to wise words, but not tittal tattle..

Thanks

If you ask me, Donald, there is far too much red tape nowadays and also far too many people wanting to make sure that we all get tied up in red tape!!!!!!!!!

What happened to the days when people just got on with things and ran for fun?

For me it's just yet another way of generating money for the insurance companies. Yes--maybe in some instances if folk are off work, due to an running injury, it may cover a small contribution towards pay, but most jobs now cover sickness absence anyway, so it probably negates the need for that particular insurance.

CRC paid somewhere in the region of £400 last year and for what---------SFA.

It seems that we are living in fear with the ones at the top feeding that fear and trying to put blockers on anything that folk enjoy, brandishing the old insurance card at every opportunity.

A wee disclaimer is a great thing--just remind folk that they are responsible for their own actions---job done!

Spot on Rab and Skerry, shame it has been branded around, even at grass roots level to try and spoil runners fun.

Just to confirm that Race 2 of the Handicap Series is on

Race 2 Bellochantuy

Date 27th June (note it is a Wednesday)

Time 1900hrs

Venue.. Bellochantuy (Turic road turning)

Distance.. 3 miles

Terrain.. Forest Route

http://www.mapometer.com/running/route_2054225.html
http://www.mapometer.com/running/route_2054207.html

As you can see there is two routes on here,( for l have not decided yet on which one). The asscent between them is only 56ft in difference. I will let you know nearer the time. In the mean time have a gander at each one.

For the people that want to carry on with the MoK training over the summer and have not ever ran a handicap, then why not take the opportunity to do one, you would be very welcomed by all on the night and find that it will be fun, semi tough but most of all, it help towards improving you race speed and running over the summer period.

Also on hand will be very experienced Jog Scotaland trained leaders at handicapping, which I am sure will give you all the encouragement and advice,to help you have a good race and enjoy the experience of running above your expectations.

Thanks

Hi All,

Just to confirm it will be, http://gb.mapometer.com/running/route_2054207.html for Race 2. There will be plenty of parking for all at the start. The footing is solid and will be ideal for a road shoe, even if it rains.

When I ran the routes tonight, one thing was that there was quite a bit of traffic belonging to Scottish power returning home from the wind farm. On saying that it was more so between the hrs of 1800-1900, so hopefully it will be maybe the odd one or two while we are running the race. I will however put a sign of "Caution Runners" sign out at the turn point. Just want to make you all aware of the unexpected.

Anyone still thinking of having a go, please let Suzy or myself know so we can allocate you a number and a handicap time.

About the route, it climbs steadily for a mile and then levels out for the next 1/2m then it is a cracker off a run home. So what you lose going up , one can certainly make coming back down. If the weather is good the view must be one of the best to finish on.

We look forward to seeing as many as possible next week.

Thanks

Well done to all that ran Bellochchantuy forest route last night with a total of 712ft of ascent, which I agree with Rab, a tough one and certainly one again for the future.

I would also like to say it was a great turnout last night, but most of all, it was good to see new face's and more youngsters pitching their ability against the adults which they certainly did do that. So I think I can speak for all of the adults and say well done again, and you are always welcome to join in, in what we hope, that you will enjoy participating in the rest of the series to come.

Here are the results, any time that are wrong in your view please pm me (Katie and one other might need correcting due to the car that came along) anyway just let me know and I will edit in sometime. The times does not effect the finishing positions.

Just a reminder that the next race is the runners choice and only votes that appear on the forum will we count.

My thanks goes to Suzy,Linn and Donald McKay for making this race go well and withstanding them wee blighters for over an hour. (we stood our ground, lol)

How about some combination of Dunaverty and Carskiey beaches?

Could be figured out and organised fairly easily....but maybe not in time for the next race. Some time in the future maybe.

But, I fear that my bid to be last ever present standing for the 5k series....17 so far, will fail at this hurdle. Due back from America that Tuesday morning....not sure I will be fit for it :(
