Campbeltown Running Club - Base Group

For 2011 we have decided to give the healthy local running and jogging community a forum of their own!

Campbeltown Running Club - Base Group

Postby Katfer » Sat Sep 18, 2010 8:24 pm

We as a club now feel it is the right time to introduce a normal run as a base for the following :

(a)Any runner that just wants to run.

(b)Runners who are thinking about joining.

(c)New members who want a base to work off before joining the training sessions

(d)Members who have or just about to enter a race(taper)etc.

(e)Members who have just come back from an injury.

(f)For all that just want an easy run that night.

Anyone who is interested, please come along on a Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm at Aqualibrium.

Nice one Katfer,l think l will use this group for the next couple of weeks,as after my LSR today l think l will take some of the strain of my knee as it was playing up a bit a round the last third of my run.

Nice to have the choice and another group forming with a aim within that group to help everyone out at some point in their running chapter over the winter period and beyond.

Think this is a really good idea and will suit a lot of people at different stages. I think I will join in with the base group on Thursday for my taper for the triathlon this weekend.

Great idea and certainly encouraged me to go along last night. Really, really enjoyed it and will hopefully get me out more.

Well done everyone - great to see so many people there.

Well done DJD and Charlie re Snowdonia, from what I heard from Charlie tonight it was a real challenging but satisfying course. Won't be at training Thursday so will hopefully catch you on Sunday or next week.

Think this is a good time to bring this back to the front, now we are into the New Year and after the Christmas binge's a few might want to take this road back, befor tackling the preset sessions that have been penciled in for January.

This group does not need anyone to take it as we feel that everyone is quite capable of putting in what they require to bring them back up to speed from where they left off and will of course encourage anyone that would want to join in for the first time.

Yourself as a runner knows exactly what state of fitness you are at and what you want to acheive in the long run so if its a vast improvement you want, then it's time to get out of the blethering comfort zone and come and join us but if you are happy with just running, then that is great co's enjoyment is the main aim of the game, no matter what.

On Tuesday,we are going to start off with an assessment (if dry), which will give me some idea to work on as a group. Like me, you will probabaly want to go from zero to something over the coming months. Also included will be to discuss your individual aim.

Feel free to even turn up and just do the assessment and I will have your result for Thursday. This will only cost you, your time and your own motivation to find out.

The more the merrier, makes all the fun

you can come to just for the Tuesday night and do the assessment if you want (that includes anyone) and we will pm your result, then you can take it from there.

We hope you would want to hang around a bit longer, but that is your choice and it is fine by us.
