However you choose to enter you are sure to have a fantastic experience at our Urbanathlons, Don’t just think about it - Do it!

Glasgow on 19th September 2010

The Urbanathlon runs are going to be even bigger and better than last year with even more obstacles! Competitors will run, wade, dangle, jump and crawl over, under and through challenging, totally original courses in Glasgow. Routes different to last year and new obstacles to keep you on your toes!

October's event was a huge success and raised £40,000 for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland, which supports people throughout Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness. Event organiser Jenny Smith said “Our event in October was a roaring success and from the feedback we've received, it's clear that a great day was had by all our runners, we're over the moon to be offering three opportunities to go for it this year”

“Over 700 people took part in October and our 2010 events are set to be even more fantastic!”

Urbanathlons are the great new runs to have fun with, enter with friends and family and have a laugh while you try to traverse the course, or compete with your best mate or yourself to whip round the 10k with a twist in record time.

With Edinburgh Leisure free training plans, running support packs containing t-shirt and water bottle, refreshments and massage on the day as well as a goody bag, take on something different in 2010 and let us support you through the experience. Join our Urbanathlon facebook page and support each other through the training and upload your photos or ideas.

http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pag ... 996?ref=nf

Photographers will be on site to capture you elation or misery for family and friends to enjoy for yours to come! Take your medal home with pride whether you walk the route or take the gazelle option! Spectators will be supported with viewing areas and food and drink available.

“There will be a prize for the highest fundraiser, a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd female and male as well as spot prizes for fancy dress and "best bits" of the day!

All money raised will directly assist people in Scotland. CHSS helps those suffering from chest, heart and stroke illness by providing care information and support when it’s needed most - join up now and help people to regain their independence.

Sounds like a fun day out folks .

As the Urban race is less than 5 weeks away could those who are interested please let your Jog Leader know by the end of August so we can confirm accomodation etc.
A mini bus has been booked to leave on the Saturday 18th , time and place yet to be confirmed , so let us know if you require transport too . :D

This is definitely going to be a 10k with a twist - not only will you run, but jump, crawl, climb and who knows what else so no PB's to worry about ! :D

Just an update folks ....

Glasgow Urbanathlon – it’s nearly here!
FINAL RACE DETAILS

One month to go to the Glasgow Urbanathlon and we hope that you are as excited as we are about the run. We do hope your training and fundraising are going well and you are looking forward to taking part.

Please click the link below to download and read the final on the day details about the run. Please read through these instructions carefully before the day.

Download the 2010 Glasgow Urbanathlon Final Race Details

The final details include instructions on where to go and what to expect from the route. The actual route and obstacles are secret and will only be revealed on race day itself but it promises to be a challenging route so please do note the instructions carefully. For those keen on recording a personal best it is important to note that the route is actually no longer a 10km run – however, although the route is shorter than 10k we are confident the obstacles plus the terrain of the park itself will certainly make up for that lost distance!

As you will see the run takes place in and around Linn Park in the south side of Glasgow and this is the first race of its kind that has taken place there so you really are getting a unique experience at the Urbanathlon. We are grateful to both the Friends of Linn Park and Glasgow City Council for granting us permission to use the park in this way and would appreciate your support in helping us keep the park as tidy as possible through using the bins provided while we are there so that we can continue to hold events such as these in the future.

There will be hot drinks and snacks available at the start/finish area plus toilets and music to keep any spectators and runners warm both pre and post race.

Every penny raised at Urbanathlon stays in Scotland – and will go to help people in people and families affected by chest, heart and stroke illness.
It will fund services like our 16 volunteer stroke services, 4 stroke support team workers and 31 local chest, heart and stroke clubs in the West of Scotland alone. So thank you for helping us continue this work.

Don’t forget to check out our Urbanathlon Scotland Facebook page to chat to other participants both past and present and swap last minute training tips.

Go to our Urbanathlon Facebook Page

For any of you who need help with your fundraising, its worth checking out www.justgiving.com/chss and setting up your own personal online sponsorship page to email to all your contacts. This is a hassle free way both to tell friends and family what you are doing and also to collect in sponsorship ready for race day.

If, after reading through the final details you have any further questions, please do get in touch by emailing fundraising@chss.org.uk or calling 0800 3160 555.

Many thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the Urbanathlon soon!
