I remember Mr Stankey, I'm pretty sure he started teaching there when I was at the school (mid 70's), geography I think it was, was he the only English teacher among the staff ? I also recall that he was quite small aswell. Then there was Mr McGilvery, who got me called back to his woodwork classroom cos he thought that I had sawed into one of the benches, only when I pointed out that I was left handed and it wouldn't be really possible to cut the bench where it was damaged with the saw in my left hand did he calm down and start to believe me
. I really didn't do it either.
Then there was 'The Strap' and each teacher had thier own reputation amongst us as to who was the hardest, we even had comps to see who could amass the most straps a day
. The winner was usually as I recall a young lad called George, someone you would rather have as a mate than an enemy.
Those were the days.
Pete.
