Are these youngfaces familiar to anyone?

Ok here are the names.

Sheila Galbraith; Joyce McSporran; Agnes Galbraith; Efric Wotherspoon; Ina McCalman; Nancy Mc Callum; Isabel Paterson.

Here's another one on the ferry with three boys - John Halbert Rybert Mc Callum and Donald Martin who I think was a head teacher in a primary school in the Oban area.

The trip must have been in 1959. Here's why.

The teachers Mr Crerar, MrMcNally and surely there was a female with us, took us around during the day but in the evening we were left to our own devices. We went to see the film Les Amant which was released in 1958. That was quite thrilling for those days! We were in a hotel in Pigalle.

We also went to the Scots Kirk and here Mr Crerar is talking to Dr Caskie the minister who was also known as the Tartan Pimpernel for his undercover work during WW2

I seem to remember Rev Donald Caskie coming to Campbeltown and giving a talk about his experiences and signing copies of his book. It was called "The Tartan Pimpernel". We had a copy of it in the house from that occasion, but I don't know where it went. As I remember he was originally from Islay. I'm not sure about the venue, but it may have been Kirk Street Hall, but the Victoria Hall seems to ring a bell, although it is a big venue for a book signing. It may have been part of a bigger event. Anyone else recall this?

Yes I remember that trip to Paris and some of the places we visited. I think I have a photo of some of these young faces too but not looking quite so sunny and serene. The photo was taken crossing the channel (on the way home I think) and faces were a bit "green" as it was stormy!

I read that book a while back and thoroughly enjoyed it. I still have it somewhere and would like to read it again at some point. I don't think I would be so brave in such dangerous times. It would appear to be still in print.

I've remembered Hamish Fairlie and Robert Miller at the back left but the name of the person between Hamish and John totally escapes me. Tommy ? is also towards the back.

I think maybe Lily Gemmel the art teacher was the lady teacher who was with us. Am I right?

I`m not from Campbeltown, but just want to say that those fashions don`t half take me back, some of those dresses could have hung in MY wardrobe back then!

Do you have names for the people in the picture?

I think mum, Mary Galbraith was teaching French in the Grammar around this time, but not on this trip by the looks of it?...these pictures are really great.

you had the signed Tartan Pimpernell book at Hillside Tom....I had a loan of it one time, thought it really was fantastic.

Mary Galbraith tried to teach me French at that time though I don't think she was on the trip. Agnes Galbraith was from Southend, I think Macharioch farm.
