Does anyone know of a gardening company (other than council) that could deal with the removal of knotweed in the Kintyre/Argyll area please?

Is this in a private garden or is it widespread? It's very hard to get rid of completely but you can tackle it yourself, if you have the time and patience.

It is my understanding that this can be tackled yourself however it must be treated in accordance with SEPA guidelines. It cannot be removed from site and instead should be sprayed and left to decay before removal. Treatment can last up to 5 years depending on the severity of the infestation.

It can be done by oneself, but it does take a few years of repeat spraying. (We had it in our last garden, before we moved to this area). The remains burn well once dead and quite dry.

These days there is a new way to tackle it, and that is via an injector gun. They cost circa £250, and have to be used when the plant is growing strongly. The weed killer then gets directly into the core of the plant, and it apparently means it is quicker to eradicate.

Ideal if you develop a personal vendetta against the stuff, like I did.
