Family History / Geneology / Gaelic facility??

Postby deirdreh » Tue Mar 24, 2009 9:28 pm

Hi,

The Kintyre Cultural Forum is looking to develop a family history centre / geneology / Gaelic centre in Campbeltown. Would you use it? If so how would you use it? In person...virtually by computer ..etc. What would you look for? Photos? Transcribed newspapers? Maps? Songs? Music? Oral History? Official documents?

Cheers

Interesting idea.

I would first go to the people who have been doing this sort of things for years, namely the Kintyre Antiquarian Society. But you may have done this already ... I would be interested to hear their take on this idea.

By the way, it is spelt: Genealogy

It would be great if this could get off the ground, and if possible be accessible by computer for those who aren't near enough, or can't get time to visit. It would be epecially useful to have access to photos or documents that are hard to access elsewhere, (e.g. libraries or National Archives etc.)

I look forward to hearing about the progress of the scheme.
