I am new to this site! I am planning to visit in June 2024 to see the area where my ancestors lived and to maybe meet distant relatives. George Darroch set off to New Zealand in 1842 from Greenock, on the Jane Gifford. He was born at Whitehouse. The family traces back to Mulmuroch Darroch who I have read about on this site. At this stage I plan to travel from Glasgow by whatever means there is, and closer to my departure time I would like to know more about where to stay and what places to visit.
