1871 Census for Southend has Donald McNaughton family at Collilongart Farm.
I am curious about where it is located?
Also, some of the family were said to have been born in Carrine, Kintyre.
Where is it on the map?

Thanks, Harold Ralston

My family were the McNaughton at Gartavaigh close to both Carrine and Collilongart. At Gartavaigh they go back to at least 1505. My Gt Gt Gt Grandfather Hector McNaught was born at Gartavaigh in 1790.
If you look on the O.S map 68 South Kintyre and Campbeltown these farms are all close to the Mull of Kintyre. Just west of Southend and up from Carskey Bay.

Dear Harold,

The National Library of Scotland have developed a fantastic tool which overlays many of the historical maps with current georeferenced satellite images.

There is a transparency slider on the left side to change between historical and satellite overlay.

This link should take you to the location for North and south Carrine farms 1888 - 1913 os for Argyll.:

My old eyes cant pick out Collilongart at the moment.

Thank you!
The overlay shows the Mill at Lossit that I have been searching for on maps and by visiting the area! I refer to it on my Subject thread Ballachnahudy. It confirms where I thought it must have been having spent a whole day in June looking and speculating. My Gt Gt Gt Grandmother Catherine McConachy was born at the mill in 1798.
