Kerr/ Mann/ McIntyre/O'May - Drumlemble area

Postby mrdmkerr » Mon Aug 29, 2011 7:39 pm

My name is Duncan McIntyre Kerr - currently in London ( left Scotland 20 years ago)- I've been working on my family tree and -thought this forum might help me to find out if I have any living family in Kintyre or if anyone can help with gaps in my tree!

My Kerr family were mostly coal miners and farm workers @ Drumleman (Drumlemble) area.Furthest back I have got so far is James Kerr...- who was a miner, bn Colhill,Drumleman 1792 - He married Elizabeth O'May , also born Drumleman....His son Alexander Kerr, died aged 24 in 1864 - but it appears he had a son, born just after he died, with Janet Mann. ( born a month after his father ...Alexander Kerr Died ) - Son went on to call himself Alexander Mann Kerr .....( my great grandfather) -His Mother, Janet Mann , married a Donald Currie and had 2 other children.

Alexander Mann Kerr married Agnes McIntyre, also from the local area...- the family moved to Bothwell where my Grandfather - Duncan McIntyre Kerr was born in 1907 ....I wondered if any of my family are still in the Drumlemble/ Kintyre area or if anyone has any information/ history on any of the family names mentioned above.

Regards

Duncan M Kerr

Hello Duncan,
I am also decended from James Kerr and Elizabeth Omey, my ggg grandfather was their son James Kerr (b 24-7-1829 / d 02-5-1881) he married Mary McKillop at Coalhill on 12-10-1854.
I haven't a date of death for James Kerr (Senior) but have his parents as Malcom Kerr and Katherin Watson but no further info on them.
Not sure how to send you an email from here but hope to hear back from you. Bob Alexander

Hi there ! Firstly, I'm in no way connected ! As for the family today, I think that's more of a question for the others on here and living in Campbeltown.

Good luck..., Iain.
