Hi
I am hoping someone may be able to help me. I have been tracing my family tree for a few years now and I am looking for some more information regarding the McLellans and the McPhersons (I know both were very common names in the area)
My Gt gt gt Grandfather was John McLellan (Shoemaker), He was born in Greenock circa 1835. He died 22 Nov 1882 at Corbetts Close, Campbeltown. He married Martha Docherty who was from Southend.
They had a daughter (my Gt gt Grandmother) Flora McLellan, she had 3 illegitimate children one of which was my Gt Grandfather Dugald McLellan. Flora later married a J Bryson and had 3 further children.
Dugald McLellan married Margaret Mitchell McPherson in Campbeltown on 11 September 1903. Dugald was living at Burnbank Place, Campbeltown and Margaret was living at Dalaruan Terrace. The year before this wedding Dugald had a relationship with a Christina Kennedy, they had a son also called Dugald.
Dugald was a fisherman and during world war 1 he was based on a minesweeper HM Drifter Pelagia. The boat hit a mine in November 1916 and He was killed. I know his name appears on the war memorial in Campbeltown. Margaret was living in Lowestoft at the time he was killed. She never returned to Campbeltown instead deciding to settle in Irvine, North Ayrshire.
I am looking for any information any one might have regarding, John, Martha and Flora. I would also be interested if any living relatives may still be living in the area.
Thanks
Hazel
